There's a lot of things I want to discuss here, so prepare for a text wall probably.

First off, I love his costume. I REALLY love his costume. It's basically Spider-Man's most iconic costume with just a little bit of a modern twist, and I think that'll suit him really well in the MCU. That costume is the ultimate Spidey fanservice and it's great. From a few shots we've seen that have been slowed down, he has the big fat spider on his back to go with the smaller one on his chest, and he also has the web shooters, which can add some needed conflict to large scale battles when he's out of webbing. I really like the eyes, and I like how they "focus". We've seen that its metal(?) plates that slide over each other as opposed to CG masks that move based on expression, like Deadpool, so I don't see why so many people are complaining that it moves. If anything, that's a good thing, seeing as they can have him be more emotional without the need to take his mask off. Plus, I think Tom Holland is gonna do a great job. From the single line he says in the trailer, you can tell he's gonna be an awkward, nerdy teen. It's pretty great casting, honestly.

However, in the aftermath of Civil War and the leadup to Infinity War, I actually don't think Spider-Man should become a full on Avenger. While he has been in the comics, he's more off and on, and that's one of the things that makes him an interesting character. Spider-Man works best when he's in conflict. He works best when he's spread thin, and his best moments come when he has consequences from being a big time hero. In the Civil War comic, Aunt May barely survives assassination as a consequence of revealing his identity as a show of support for Team Iron Man. It's more fun to read when a teenager that's secretly a hero has to pick up his Aunt's medications, then get sidetracked fighting the Rhino, then nearly fail a big midterm as a consequence of his actions.

Luke Cage will be entering the MCU soon, so they might set up a New Avengers storyline......If the Fantastic Four ever show up.....

Yeah, but unfortunately he's currently locked into The Defenders with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. The MCU hasn't ever referenced the shows, but it'd be really nice if one of the Netflix characters at least showed up at some point. I'd even settle for Cap to hire the services of Nelson and Murdock or Alias Investigations...
I'd be really cool though if the Hell's Kitchen crew showed up in movies like the Spider-Man reboot or even Infinity War. I'd pay good money to see the Wilson Fisk take on Spider-Man or have Daredevil and the rest of the Defenders join the fight against Thanos alongside the Guardians and the Avengers.

Also the Fantastic Four rights should definitely revert back to Marvel. All the previous FF movies have been disastrous, and Marvel clearly knows how to handle their own characters. Plus, Fox has already seen what happens when their properties (i.e. Daredevil, Punisher) revert back to Marvel. It'd be stupid nNOT to let them handle them from here on out, but Fox is stupid and stubborn so that might not even happen.

Spider-man in the MCU feels pretty surreal. For so many years Spider-man was cut off from the MCU by an impenetrable legal barrier, and now he's right there on screen with Iron Man and Cap! Crazy. Now just please have him face off against Kingpin from the Daredevil series. Please!

Only thing I'm worried about now is the question of how Sony will handle Spider-man's extended cast going forward. They've apparently been talking about making a Venom movie franchise unconnected to the MCU Spider-man series, and who knows what else they might do with other Spider-man characters. If Sony starts doing that kind of crap with Spider-man's cast things could get real confusing for audiences in regards to continuity, plus they'll basically be wasting a bunch of movies on noncanon side stories instead of building up MCU Spider-man's canon rogues gallery. I just hope it doesn't get messy and stupid.

I really hope that Venom movie doesn't actually come to fruition, but I can see why they'd do that.
Apparently Marvel is going to have a lot more say in the new Spider-Man series, with Kevin Feige on board as an executive producer.

I'm still pissed about this because it means no Amazing Spiderman 3 movie.

But wouldn't you rather have a movie by the people who created the character and continue to write him, or the Sony Board of Directors that royally screwed up the last one?

I liked both Amazing Spider-man movies and was looking forward to a third to show more of how he deals with Gwen's death.

I would've preferred that over a third reboot made by people who's movies I find a bit overrated.

If Sony had it their way you wouldn't see Amazing Spiderman 3 for a while anyways, since after 2 they'd focus on the Sinister Six for a few years.

I'm excited for the solo Spider-man movie next year. I'd love to see Green Goblin based on his Animtaed ultimate Spider-man design (The one that appears in Disney Infinity).

Tom Holland was probably the perfect choice too. Andrew and Tobey were great but were too old to play Spidey. His voice alone shows that he''s is really capable to play a geeky, jokey, somewhat lonely Peter, much like how he's supposed to be.

While I'm excited, I do worry about the solo Spidey movie. I might be wrong but I believe Sony is in charge of it. I'm scared they're gonna pull the same mistakes from the previous ones. Too many villains in one movie to get asses in the seats being the biggest one.

While I can see your point, if they introduce and flesh out his villains in other media, the Sinister Six could be a good final enemy for the last MCU Spidey movie. They'd have to be REALLY well characterized in other films, shows, and otherwise though.

I agree. I'm not against having too many villains, as long as they're developed and don't feel forced, they can go all out. They could also have Iron Man and a few other heros to help Spidey against the Sinister Six.

I just should have said it better, haha.

I've waited a long time for this and I'm really glad to see that it's finally possible. I thought Amazing Spiderman 1 was passable at best (and didn't bother to see 2 since the reviews I saw of it just gave me the impression I wouldn't be into it) so I'm more than ok with him going into the MCU rather than staying around with Sony where he'd only exist just to be a mandatory thing to do.

His suit looked CG as hell though. Hope that's just the lighting of the scene.

Fox cancelled plans for a Fantastic Four sequel that would've came out in 2017, and if they don't make a sequel the rights would by default revert back to Marvel. So it's not impossible to think that after three attempts at it they're giving up on the IP and will focus instead on X-Men full time, as that's a proven money maker and has been doing better critically as of late.

I'm fairly certain that's just for that shot. We know there's a physical Spidey suit that was used in filming for at least multiple scenes, so it could be like Black Panther and his suit in that it's CG for about half and real for about half.

Keep hearing that Spiderman's solo film will likely have Kingpin as the main bad guy, which would be cool. Since we're going for a younger Spiderman, and in the early days of being Spidey, all he fought were crime bosses LIKE Kingpin and Hammerhead, he didn't get into the supervillains for quite some time.
