Years later and I've discussed this with highly respected and very knowledgeable skylander peeps (h@ckers,m0dders,etc.) from around the world and this has yet to ever be reproduced ! Hmmmm.. There are NO other known trap hacks that have done this if it was even hacked or a TRUE factory defect, its the ONLY one known... Sure, You can put any villain in any trap of that element but NOT a VARIANT villain. This seems to be a one of a kind and a great find at that time from "Evil-Bay". Has anyone known of any other traps like it? Curious to know or could this be possibly that exception !
Any ideas?

I can say, I have hacked a trap to remove a VARIANT villain (had 2 light rockets with rebel, but could never find one with out to finish my collection) so I hacked the trap to remove the data flag that represented the VARIANT villain. Tho it would take a lot more work to add a VARIANT villain, but it should be possible. That said with this being the only one it most likely is an error (or was gotten from an employee or something).

I could have sworn one of our resident.... data manipulators... said the special flag could be set on traps like this.

It also could be that the trap bottom with the chip had just the wrong top attached to it

Yes, u can manipulate the data for traps with normal villians but NOT with variants especially if its been evolved !

With my PM3, I was able to make a backup(tested) of this trap to have ! YEAH !!!! (for my own personal use)

Variant villain's data can be manipulated, the variant data flag is stored on the part of the chip that is editable (not in the read only memory). I'm not going to go in to detail about how you could easily make traps just like this using an editor, but it is possible.

Nope not possible ! "darkrai848", it reverts to Shield Shredder.. LOL.. Not going in to details either, other than all flags attempted!
