Wondering how to update the game to get the latest goodies like BOOM 5000 [CLOSED]

I know this may sound dumb, but I was wondering how you update the game to get the BOOM 5000, the extra elemental gates, the cabinet and chest. In other words, the patch

Is your console connected to Internet? The game should automatically detect that there is an update to download and force you to update.

You need to update your game. You must be connected to internet to download the patch.

Got the patch. Tried to use the BOOM 5000 and the item to recoil or the vehicles, but said my connection was lost. Didn't realize you still needed Internet for those. Got everything else with no problem. The patch was a version 1.6.0

On Wii U, my version says it's 1.6.1
