YES! Of course he is! Ignitus returned as the Chronicler, the Chronicler dissappeared and "bound his soul with nature to offer hope or the future", and Spyro and Cynder are alive. They were flying in the Valley of Avalar at the very end. Everyone is alive and well, and I expect even Malefor is alive. After all, "When a Dragon dies, he does not truely leave this world."

If you have beaten the game... wait for the credits to end. The cutscene taking place after the staff roll sequence should answer your question.

Well yes Malefor is alive but he is sealed away forever so he didn't really die at all.

I don't why people think Spyro is dead. They obviously hasn't seen the final cutscene, or misunderstood what the Chronicler meant when he said:

You see, each time a dragon dies, a new page is written in this book. I've done my best...but I can't seem to find any trace of Spyro.

Yes, Spyro and Cynder are alive. But I can't help but wondering, If there is only 4 Elder Dragons in each generation. Then why was there at the end FIVE dragons that grab Malefor and dragged him in the Purple Stone? Yet another question that I'll have to find out. Come Watson, the case is afoot!!!(Sherlock Holmes)

Maybe they were the other purple dragons besides Malefor and Spyro that Malefor mentioned.
