So Batman is going to kill people in the new movie? [CLOSED]

I don't think I'm going to see the movie if Batman just kills people like the Punisher now.

Yeah I guess he did technically kill the Joker and he did kill some random dudes if I remember correctly. I just don't want him to go around killing people all the time.

This could be a big mistake. They try to reason it with how Batman is older and has gone through a lot of suffering through the years, which could make him less forgiving than before. But in comics and other media hasn't he usually still spared the lives of criminals and villains because he swore he would never stoop to their level (genuine question that I hope someone can answer)?

I was fine with Superman killing Zod in Man of Steel because he was just starting out and didn't yet have a defined set of morals. He was more preoccupied with protecting the human race and stopping who he thought would kill millions of lives. And after he killed Zod and realized he murdered one of the last of his kind he felt beyond horrible, likely setting the stage for him to adopt this policy of never killing another life no matter what (which I imagine will play a role in this film against Batman; "If I wanted it, you'd be dead already").

This on the other hand could end up just looking like letting Batman kill just for the sake of being darker and edgy.


I really hope they don't go with that idea. I want to be able to like DC's new cinematic universe without having to justify it.

Im not a fan of the idea either. He wasn't a killer in the comics and it's very out of character for him. I'm sure there are comics where he kills but this is likely going to be the key movie Batman for a long time so I think he should have the core Batman morals.

Exactly that. Batman's one rule is absolutely no killing. Between making him lose that one rule and leaving out the "world's greatest detective" part, this BvS Batsy doesn't even seem like Batman anymore.

At this point I feel like they're just trying to be "darker and edgier" with every launch of their comics, movies, ect.

BatMan and SuperMan suck anyways, I'm not super duper into the Marvel Universe either.

I can see some criminals being killed in accidents or something like that but I want to see Batman, not the Punisher.

to be honest, if they pulled this off in a way that worked for the film, i'd be all for it. I think it would be an interesting take on Batman to see, if done right.

It might not be done well since DC was already effectively rushing their cinematic universe but I still think it's an interesting idea.

I just hope they stick to the old Batman theme, that no matter what the circumstances he won't use a gun.

I highly doubt that's a normal gun. Probably some electrical charge ****.

Batman did kill in the original 1939 series and even used a gun but serial Batman is really bad and is racist. However we do have alternate universe Batmans who do kill as well except they are usually exaggerated characters who go insane over a Robin's death.
