tumblr has been a source of mockery, the butt of all jokes and even seen as some kind of parasite ruining the internet. If you definitely believe that last part, you're Captain Wacky Pants.

Don't get me wrong, I watching a video about the sight with REBLOG shouted over and over combined with actually trying to navigating through the site is obtuse and borderline-incomprehensible but you know what? I get it. I don't entirely respect or even care for tumblr but I sorta understand the kind of people who use tumblr and why do what they do.

It's obvious how the internet is toxic and anyone is ripe for trolling, bullying and even death threats and there's clearly a large amount who can't handle that kind of abuse so tread to tumblr and talk silly things. tumblr's rarely used by malicious people because they already have their own paradise of anarchy like 4chan and sub-Reddit forums. That's why I find out is odd if someone used tumblr to attack someone for not liking their games instead of the other said sites.

tumblr is far too closed in for it's own good but it's nowhere near up it's in ass as the amount angry entitlement-seeking white pro-asshole heterosexual men who all think the world revolve around them and that they think they can do no wrong.

At least it's not Instagram, am I right?

I use that site. Half the themes are a webdesign disaster and no wonder other sites that follow artists on it use imgur bots to repost somewhere that doesn't break in half on mobile.But, it's very quick to navigate when someone knows what they're doing,and you can't look for a better place to sell art(as an amateur, of course, Behance is still the best professional one), or spread your love of a franchise.

And if you think tumblr is 'rarely used' for harassment, oh how wrong you are. Doxxing is easily spread, even more easily than 4chan, and you can't put your hand in a social justice issue without having someone follow you to insist that you have to kill yourself.
It's an echo chamber and a hugbox, even more than reddit since it's very easy to get lost in the tags and it's not obvious unless you go look for it. And just like you can generalize reddit like it's some species, I can tell you reddit is nowhere near the everything gendered white women that take the mantle of protecting all minorities as long as they conform to their safe space and trans headcanons.

It's easy to use prejudice to ditch an entire website. It's hard to think that both have good sides and bad sides and separate them properly.
(Disclaimer: Since there'll always be someone who'll tl;dr and insult instead, no, I don't have that general opinion of tumblr.)

pretty much this, some parts of tumblr can get pretty scary but it's fairly easy to avoid

unfortunately there's this one person i follow that has a tendency to reblog stupid **** but i like the creative stuff she brings to my dash so much i can't bring myself to unfollow

I just always either forget to use it or not see much of a point in using it. I'd rather not go out of my way to look for things to reblog that nobody (even those who follow me) are going to care about when I myself don't find much worth reblogging. The only reason for me to use tumblr is to occasionally give updates to music projects or when I actually release something.

And as bad as tumblr's SJW attitudes can be, I have to agree with the above in that it's a lot easier to avoid than it could be on other sites. Yeah maybe someone you follow may sometimes reblog stuff of that nature and it can be a bit of a bother but compare that to other sites which may have a general attitude that you can't avoid at all unless you stay away from the entire site.

I guess it just depends on the types of stuff you've involved in and the fandoms they have.

I find it really hard to get away from the SJW side of the fandom mainly because I love Undertale and Homestuck, and those two fandoms are infested with SJWs and their bad side of the fandom is on Tumblr. And those two fandoms tend to also be fans of Steven Universe, and that fandom is horrid and also infested with SJWs and feminists. I always get SU on my dash even though I try my best to avoid it. Because of this I tend to ignore my dash and just go into tags instead.
