What if within the next 50 years we reach the singularity as well as advance both our space and health programs to explore space and extend life expectancy respectively? We could then potentially explore at least the solar system with our synthetic or augmented organs/limbs in a Mass Effect/Deus Ex hybrid, thus making us born at roughly the right time to at least see our race begin to explore the stars just before we go to sleep for the last time, comfortably feeling that humanity has a future beyond a single planet and that overpopulation or excessive pollution and the damage they have caused on the Earth won't spell the end of our species.

You know, that has actually been my dream for the future for good many years now. Except for the part about going to sleep for the last time. I'm going to stay kicking for as long as I can.
