Don't want to spoil the surprise, but it's a huge bonus for those with a large collection of Skylanders from previous games.

After reaching up to Rank 74, we already learned about the ability to switch between two different upgrade paths for all Skylanders, not just the Series 2 - 4 types.
No surprises there... unless that's not what we're talking about...

Yes but not everyone has gotten to rank 74 yet or peeked ahead to see what all powers are for all ranks.

It was probably the biggest surprise in a Skylander game yet (for me at least), and I'm so glad I didn't know about it at all beforehand. If this has already been reported about in the forums, I'm glad I missed it! Truly a great treat for long time fans.

I unfortunately spoiled it myself on accident but it was still an exciting discovery!

Hope it will become a regular feature in future games, hopefully along the possibility to switch aesthetic changes on characters on and off.

The next VV game is what you should look forward too if you want that!

Hey is there anything you want me to bring for the rest of the week and if so it’s so cool that you can do something and just do it like that

Not necessarily.

Each game starting from Giants gave something new, a special function to all the existing characters;
Giants: all characters now have voice actors;
SWAP Force: all characters can now jump;
Trap Team: all characters can now jump attack or attack while jumping;
SuperChargers:
all characters can now switch path freely.

I don't want to start talking on how V.V. handles aesthetic changes after upgrades but TfB isn't dumb and since they already actually improved a mechanic created by the former (the jump one to be precise) chances are they will do the same again.

V.V. is a great software house but it does have its limits.

^ It is not guaranteed this feature will carry forward. I assume it won't and therefore isn't necessarily a feature I'd put next to jump like in Swap Force.

Sure, all I said above assuming it is a similar feature.
Hope it will but it is kinda different from the others I listed.

Fingers crossed!

Wait so is this anything other than

the easy switching of paths?

Isn't it great that we bought dozens of skylander reposes because we wanted this feature, and now they just give it to us? I feel a little jipped in a way.

One thing's for sure...I won't buy a repose again because they instantly devalued S2 with this move.

Oh come on. When series 2's first came out everyone was complaining that path switching wasn't universal. Now people are gonna start complaining because it is universal?

The main benefit of Series 2's is their Wow Pow, anyway. Path switching is a nice convenience but it doesn't affect the way a Skylander actually plays.

No you forgot. You could also play all of those heroics.

Don't come on me. Path switching was a great feature...and now devalued. I left out wow pow because there's no power to inherit all the wow pows in a figure. smilie

Path switching is a great feature, yes, and now every figure has this great feature. So it's not so much that series+ figures lost value but that every other figure gained value. Series+ figures are no different than they were before, yet every non-series+ figure is now 100% improved now that it can switch paths. You should be happy that all the non-series+ figures in your collection have now increased in value since they can do something they couldn't do before.

Oh I am happy, but now I will expect it. I have a sense it won't be back in #6 though...just a feeling. smilie

But they've killed the goose now, because if they go back to Series 2 and path-switching and such there they won't get a warm reception.

That's true. I really hope they keep portal master powers in general, since the concept is a good one.

Finally got around to buying second paths for some older Swap Force and Trap Team figures this weekend. Funny thing was that when I tried switching paths with a Series 2/3 that already had both upgrade paths purchased from their respective games (for example Hog Wild Fryno from Trap Team), I had to re-buy their second paths in SuperChargers.

It seems if you have the Skylanders Tutor power selected, all previous Series 2/3/4 Skylanders need to re-buy their second paths even if you already bought them during previous games. Forgot to try if this still happens when you don't have Skylanders Tutor enabled.

Anyone else experience this?
