It stand for "National November Writing Month," and it's a fun little challenge where you have to write a 50,000 word original novel in 30 days. I have 3,288 words written so far on my story, War of Myth. So have any of you guys entered before or are entering this year?

I may, then again with the Halloween story...

Maybe, I'm trying to write a Marvel AU so...

Don't think I'll go for that, but I'll shoot for an update or two to my KH fanfic this month. Have an idea that might be able to be done for it, but not sure I could get 50k done in one month.

I barely have the motivation to breathe what makes you think I would attempt to write a novel lol

i'll only write something if it's required for school or somebody is paying me to do so.

if not, too much effort for little payout

You have to be a damn good writer to come up with something of true quality in 30 days. I suppose it depends on the judging criteria of the contest, though.

That really all depends on the kind of genre/demographic you are going for, and on your individual talent. If you write on a computer, then a high WPM will do you well.

Too many words, too little time. And I'm not that great of a writer.

NaNoWriMo isn't a competition, though. It's just a little challenge to get people motivated to work on their stories. And even if the stories aren't necessarily ready to be published or whatever, at least these people are being productive and practicing their writing skills.

Oh, okay. It just seemed like a competition from the way Op worded it.
