That sounds cool, but I wonder if it'll push devs away since they'll have to balance optimization and graphics way more than in either normal plataform.

It sounds like another idea that will alienate 3rd party developers and wind up with Nintendo and its 1st and 2nd-party affiliates being the only ones able to do anything with it. >.>

I'd rather focus on the Wii U and think that the $300 spent on it was not a waste of money with the constant talks of a new system already here.

I think that it all depends on the execution. This could go incredibly well or could end up being a Wii U 2.0 in terms of 3rd party support. I do have faith in it though as the current Nintendo president actually disapproved of the Wii U in terms of architecture, name and marketing so this could go really good for Nintendo.

Honestly I think it's way too early for Nintendo to be considering a new console. Yes, the Wii U was a commercial failure at this point, so they need to make something new eventually, but making something this early is just going to screw over people like me who invested a lot into the Wii U.

In a way, yes buti believe that the NX is aiming to replicate that on a larger scale (ie: take the controller on the bus etc and continue playing the game).

I would propose the idea that the NX is a Nintendo smartphone but they pretty much confirmed the NX's existence to let people know they weren't doing that unless they're misleading us to make it a surprise.

I highly doubt that considering there are already games being developed for NX such as DragonQuest 11

i'm conflicted here

on one hand, a new console sounds exciting and i'm really interested in seeing it revealed and all

but on the other hand, it feels a bit too early for it? but then again, the wii u hasn't exactly been a smashing success (unless that's changed recently and i wasn't aware).

It came out in 2012 and has ****ty support due to nintendo not giving it power. Bring out the new console and slowly stop supporting it so we can finally have the console we wanted.

Doubt it. I mean the only reason we know anything about the NX is because they didn't want people freaking out and thinking they're moving exclusively to mobile games.

At this point I kinda wish they just left people to panic about that.

There's a reason why Sega doesn't develop hardware anymore, after all.


Nintendo has promised to continue supporting the Wii U for a couple of years into the NX's life. This will give the console a 6 year life cycle which is the same as many consoles such as the NES. The 7th generation was an anomaly in the age of a cycle as it lasted far longer than an average cycle.

Yeah, I can see that potentially being the case again...

Personally though, I don't really care about third party support too much since I can just get third party games on Xbox or Playstation. What intrigues me is the idea of Nintendo focusing all of its attention on making games for one platform instead of dividing its attention between two platforms. That would be incredibly awesome, I think.
