What happened to the parts of skylands that had been destroyed by the sky eater and when the darkness was defeated.
Was it returned to normal or remained destroyed FOREVER?

It's a rift, it's not exactly explained if it's thrown in another part of Skylands or dimension entirely,but it probably crushes everything into pieces if out of control like it did to Know-it-All Island. The vehicles probably only survive it with the Engines.
And if the Core wasn't recovered,it's probably the latter.

Omg idea for next game

the skylanders go to other dimensions to recover the rest of skylands from the other dimensions plus the core of light.

Anyway yes I think the Sky Eater itself destroyed whatever was sucked inside its rift.
However the rifts which originated from the sky's destruction may act like true Portals so maybe certain parts of the Skylands aren't lost forever.
