And if you have a Facebook account, you have an account with peeple, there is no way of leaving.

A new app called Peeple has been announced, in which everyone you know will be able to rate you as a human being.

The Washington Post likens the app to being "Yelp, but for humans", and reveals it's set to launch in late November. Posts will not be anonymous and you will not be able to have yourself removed from the app - once someone chooses to rate you, that's it. When people sign up it'll ask you to login with Facebook so if just one of your friends decides to go for it... you'll be in the system.
"You're going to rate people in the three categories that you can possibly know somebody — professionally, personally or romantically," says peeple CEO and co-founder Julia Cordray. "So you'd be able to go on and choose your five-star rating, write a comment and you will not be anonymous.
"You should have the right to know who somebody is before you invite them in to your home, around your children. They become your neighbours, they teach your kids, you go on dates with them."

Before negative comments appear on your profile you will be sent them, and then have a 48 hour window in which to try to sort out any potential disagreement with the individual who filed it. If no agreement can be reached, the comment will be posted and you can then comment on it publicly.
Corday insists the aim isn't to attack others, but rather to present an opportunity for honest critical feedback and growth. How the app will work with regards to privacy laws, particularly the European "right to be forgotten", remains to be seen.

Considering that (I believe) one of the co-founders set their Twitter account on private when they (predictably) got backlash and criticism for the idea, I don't see this app taking off.

And if it does, I'll be sure to have a lawyer on standby to sue for damages. Cuz 'MURICA! ^.^b

Sorry to say, but it is. It may not be the intention, but it will be used for negative reasons. Especially for people who don't exactly sign up for it but get thrown in the system either through Facebook or someone trying to make a review of you without you even being on and won't be able to take advantage of that 48-hour window. Ultimately, I see a lot of negativity being spread and privacies invaded.

Heard on the news that some people were trying to get it taken down before it happened though.

Yeah, no matter they say, it's going to be used negatively in some way, everything connected to the internet is >.>
Anyways, I don't like this, and thankfully very few people do it seems, but I certainly don't see this as the end of apps or services that know more or your information <.>;

They do realize that we could make alts just to rate our selves 5 stars right? Like seriously, if I want a job with someone that actually checks that app, I could just right a bunch of positive reviews on my self! Not that I'm gonna have to worry about getting a job for a few more years but still.

It seems like everything gets ratings now , can't see anything else that's missing out. It's a horrible idea though.

Even if it does get used positively with construction criticism as opposed to just harassment, I can easily see mediocre scores destroying people's self-esteems and being a disaster for people with depression.

I understand people growing as human beings, learning from their mistakes and humility, and allowing them to grow both through the good experiences and the bad ones.
But....applying this to social media and making it based off a rating system that's pretty much the kind You'd see people using for restaurants, video games, films, ect....not that great of an idea.
