if you mean in general, the game should be bought first lol

otherwise, just make sure you pick up the other vehicle types. Assuming you're getting the main game and not the Wii/3DS racing-only game, you'll still need sky & sea vehicles...you could go for the Racing Action Packs, which not only give you the other types of vehicles you'll need but also 2 more Superchargers ( which are paired with the vehicles in the same packs ) and trophies that unlock more content.

I will most likely get a dark edition. But right now I am not sure what supercharger combo I should get. I am thinking on either dive bomber, Fiesta or a sky vehicle pair.

Shark Shooter Terrafin and Hammer Slam Bowser are incredible. I'd go for those two, but that's just me.

If you're only getting one Supercharger combo, get another one that's in a land vehicle. There are far more land sections than the others, and you fight a lot of boss battles in a land vehicle. If you try nightmare mode it's better to have more supercharged land than the others.

As somewhat described already, you're going to want to buy one Sea vehicle, and one Sky vehicle, and since the starter comes with a Land vehicle, you can 100% the story levels with just those.
On top of that, there's these bundled figure packs which come with a character, a vehicle which matches that character, and a trophy. The trophy will unlock a stage (or two?) for the racing mode, as well as playable villains, only playable in the racing mode.

Not quite as important, but consider the matching vehicle with what characters you do buy. If you get a character, and the vehicle that matches with that character, you will get the "Supercharged combo", as well as a mini stage stage that unlocks. They really aren't the biggest things ever, but in case you didn't know, I suppose you should?

In the end, if you don't care about those trophies that unlock racing stages and villains, and you don't care about unlocked the Supercharged combos, I really suggest just looking online at the list of characters, and depending on which figure looks great to you, watch gameplay, and judge based on what you feel is best. I'd suggest a few, but not having the game... I really can't.

I definitely recommend you to pick up Dive-Clops and Sea Shadow.
Definitely a really interesting and fun Skylander and one of the most cool looking, powerful and versatile vehicles of this game.

Agreed. Dive Clops and Smash Hit are my favorite Superchargers, and Sea Shadow is my go-to Sea Vehicles. It not only looks awesome, but it is so much more powerful and faster than the other Sea Vehicle. If you are looking for a full list of the ones I think you should get, here you go:

Anyone has advices for Wave 2?
I'm not interested in variants nor revamps, so Single Packs are the best for me.
As of now I would like to pick up Burn-Cycle and High Volt but there may be room for another SuperCharger or vehicle.

Totally forgot Shark Tank would have been released as single in Wave 2!
Then I'll have to change my plans a bit: Shark Tank and Stealth Stinger (so that I will be able to play two more elemental challenges) first; Burn-Cycle and Jet Stream will have to wait for at least next week.

As for the SuperChargers... Wasn't expecting Smash Hit to be a tactical-type character.

Also, I would definitely get the wii u version because I just got one and also because of Donkey kong.
