Lots of questions from a new member

Hello, I'm a new member on this site but have been reading it for about 2 years. I've been playing Skylanders since it was released, and I got the first 4 games on the wii (yeah I know). If I get SSC it will be on xbox one however.

I just had some questions about Skylanders superchargers... Like a lot of questions I'm too lazy to google them all.

1) How does the online play work?

2) Is there PvP? If so, how many players does it allow and canisters there online PvP?

3) What purpose do traps serve in this game, because I've got at least 1 of each element and I'm wondering what I'll be able to do with them in Superchargers.

4) What do these trophy pieces do?

5) Is there a new level cap?

6) How many levels are there? (Console).

7) If I am doing online co-op with somebody, can somebody else play on my console, making it 3 players?

8) Is there split screen for local co-op?

I'd really appreciate it if someone could answer these for me smilie

1)It...Works. You gotta be more specific.

2)No, just racing.

3)Elemental attack bonus, and a skystone of the current villain.

4)New Traps. You can only use these villains in racing, and only on their vehicle.

5)Still 20,but supercharged lv.20 skylanders become 21 temporarily.

6)13 levels(some single chapter), 52 chapters (which vary in size).

7)Two player only.

8)No, tether single screen.

Ok thanks, with the online I meant what modes could be played? Sorry I should have been more specific.

First of all, welcome to smilie! smilie

Now, to answer at least some of your questions:

1) You can either send an invitation to one of your friends or simply ask him to join his current game.
Can play all the modes.

2) No classic PvP, only racing.

3) Trap work like special power ups for vehicles.
Each Element unlock two attacks which have limited uses.
The Kaos Trap is now recognized as a Magic one.
Traps also unlock the villains' Skystones.

4) They unlock new tracks, let you play as specific villains (only during races) which have to be defeated before you can use them.

5) Nope, still 20 but a SuperCharger paired with his/her vehicle can get up to 21.

6) 13 levels (but two of them are rather short and content lacking).

7) I guess so, never tried it so far.

8) No... The infamous energy string is back.

You either do Black Friday or you wait until mid-late next year. Depending on how the game is selling you may have to wait more/less time.

It'll probably be Black Friday, I'm getting lego dimensions as well so it'll be expensive. Unfortunately I'm a sucker for TTL games, but I've given up on infinity and never started amiibo.

And thanks, I'm glad to be on here finally.

few annotations to add to Drek's post, there's a NUMBER of prerelease-based assumptions that Bifrost listed, and probably never tested herself, such as traps boosting only vehicles of the same element, or even being a boost rather than providing each vehicle a different weapon (and MOVESET) for every element the TRAPS you have are...

1) You can either send an invitation to one of your friends or simply ask him to join his current game.

Not all of them, no boss pursuit, time trial, or supercharged challenges... Basically nothing that you can't do in Couch Co-Op anyway, except Skystones, which will pit each player against each other, with their respective deck and vehicle ONLY if you are doing Online Co-Op

Quote: Drek95
2) No classic PvP, only racing.

Which makes the answers to his question: technically yes, technically 2 (4 online), and technically yes.

Quote: Drek95
3) Trap work like special power ups for vehicles.
Each Element unlock two attacks which have limited uses.
The Kaos Trap is now recognized as a Magic one.

That's actually inaccurate... His SKYSTONE is Magic, but the Kaos TRAP actually functions DIFFERENTLY as a weapon than the Magic Traps, which as the primary attack, fires two shots, that home and hit the target from each side, and do relatively normal damage for a trap, whereas a Kaos Trap fires a single shot as its primary attack which doesn't triangulate, and is OP'd even compared to other traps...
Traps also unlock the villains' Skystones.

4) They unlock new tracks, let you play as specific villains (only during races) which have to be defeated before you can use them.

Quote: Drek95
5) Nope, still 20 but a SuperCharger paired with his/her vehicle can get up to 21.

That's not entirely true either... Supercharging boosts ALL stats, not just HP, and unless a character gains 50 hp per level, the boost in HP isn't equivalent to 1 level either (because Supercharging ALWAYS gives 50 HP, leveling up doesn't), plus, it still says "Level 20"

Quote: Drek95
6) 13 levels (but two of them are rather short and content lacking).

7) I guess so, never tried it so far.

The answer to that question is no by the way, since no one else seems to know

Quote: Drek95
8) No... The infamous energy string is back.

Yeah, but she was a LITTLE bit less detailed and made a TWO more incorrect observations than you in her answers...

What the heck I said about same element? I said Elemental Attack Boost. Painting the projectiles the other element's color is that.
I also don't see the point of quoting Drek again, they've read the answers already.

First, the point of doing so is to adding/correcting information to those answers, which is the point of annotation, as I said I was doing...

Your description of Trap Weapons, while different from what I assumed you meant, is still inaccurate... Since the secondary attack is different from 90% of the secondary attacks of vehicles (all 11 have the same secondary attack, sure, but if the default weapons, the only match ist the Reef Ripper's hitbox...)
Because ironically, the projectiles are the only thing that differs with Trap Weapons, both because the secondaries appear to be IDENTICAL, and because secondaries are what tend to differ in function when it comes to normal weapons

My point is:
It does NOT just paint projectiles, Magic projectiles fire two homing shots to either side, I think Tech? was the scattershot, but I know SOMETHING scatter shots... And the one that DOES scattershot doesn't even do the kind of homing that vehicle weapons NORMALLY do, but rather fires 3 shots in specific directions...
Something else fires a SINGLE homing shot, and that's all I remember off the top of my head (though there MAY have been one that scatters FIVE shots)
Kaos fires a single generic projectile that does obscene damage compared to other traps...

I'm not nitpicking (either that, or this is the PERFECT place for it), he's trying to learn about the game, so the answers to the questions he asked ought to be accurate, not vague or half-correct... I mean, he ought to know the actual answer to what he asked...

It's not a power up, it's a different moveset, that functions differently, sure, every trap weapon has more or less the same secondary attack, but the only normal secondary attack that is all that similar is Reef Ripper's and the primary attack of each Trap is fundamentally different...
One fires two homing shots that triangulate, another fires a scattershot directly in front of you, another fires an incredibly powerful shot (I'm talking 500+ damage with Kaos), another does DoT (I think), as they said in an interview, it's fun to see how the different elements work...

TS: you should know that each trap in your collection has a meter that depletes when you use its weapon, so you still have a use for multiple sculpts of an element, and there's actually MORE of a reason to get both versions of the Kaos Trap than you did in Trap Team (you only needed one, because you only had one villain to catch, but having two different Kaos traps gives you two charges of Kaos weapons in Superchargers)

It takes longer than inviting for Racing, but yes and no, co-op is friends only. You go to the center of the hub or the Friends List menu to invite or join your or someone else's save file, and if the connection works the game will reset into co-op mode.

I don't think it does. From what I understand, the Xbox One uses its own proprietary Portals, meaning you'd need an Xbox One Traptanium Portal if you wanted to use it on your console. The Wii one only works on Wii, Wii U, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, I'm afraid.

If you had already owned the Xbone Trap Team portal, then you could buy the disc only and basically enjoy the game with only the free instant Hot Streak and Wildfire. Honestly, there is no real need to buy any additional character figures if you have the right level 20 Skylanders already. Gearshift with a rainbow hat is an absolute beast as she shoots out probably a dozen hits per second at 35 damage or so each. It's hard to tell what her dps is as it's so quick. Perhaps 500?

Also, I have about 12 traps which helps takes down baddies rather quickly on the car vehicle boss levels. Those are pretty much essential as without you may find yourself going though Skylanders rather quickly as they are quite squishy without any shielding. Being lazy and sloppy I go though about 3 to 8 characters per land on nightmare mode, but I am sure I could do it in one or two if I really cared about doing so.

You'll probably want to buy a random sea and sky vehicle just to unlock content as it does make the levels a bit longer and enjoyable. I bought a sea one last night to enjoy new content and I plan to buy an air one when I grow tired of the sea stuff.

Personally I've only spent $42 dollars this year on Skylanders SuperChargers and it feels about right as I don't like racing stuff so half the game is going to waste with me. It's an OK game, but just not worth the hundreds of dollars which I poured into Trap Team last year. You may want to do it on the cheap too to start off with just to judge how you feel about it before investing a ton of money into it.
