So I'm playing on nightmare difficulty, as a lot of older players might do, and I'm struggling at Moneybone, or at least what I am assuming is his first fight, in a Land vehicle in an arena. First off, Land vehicles are tedious for me to control in Arena mode, and I can barely control where I'm going. Second, because I'm on Nightmare, I'm dying instantly to the minions (I'm assuming Chompies?) he keeps spawning, because they don't contrast with the level at all. It's impossible for me to see them. And when I can see them, they move so fast that I just get one-shot.
I'm literally sitting next to a pile of tired Skylanders, and I'm left with under levelled ones that can't do- well, my point is, even on Nightmare, this is a pointless difficulty curve.
My other problem is I have a rather small screen, it's HD but not huge. So when the game is zoomed out to see the parallel platforms on the walls, it's extremely hard to see anything at all, even my Hot Streak. Gosh, this is infuriating.
At this rate, I'm dropping the difficulty to adventurer. This is awful.

Well, it's the design of the boss area. Other ones fare better ihmo because it's not as dark, or the camera is third person and not top-down.
Either way, use Hot Streak, it can home in on enemies or at least the flames will try to reach the nearest enemy.

I actually was using Hot Streak during the entire battle, but I still went through at least 60+ Skylanders before I finally beat him with S1 Gill Grunt. |

Replacing the vehicle doesn't restore shield? You have the instant in any copy, you could switch between real and digital.

i just beat him today on nightmare mode, tried 3 times with lvl 20 stormblade and hot streak all failed, then beat him on the 4th try with lvl 1 spitfire and hot streak. like i said in another post about nightmare mode, i never swap my skylander out and if i die i restart at last checkpoint. i can give some tips on the fight.
his main "attack" is that burning fire trail, easy to do. to start he has a tell, he raises his left arm up and points at you, that means start running. just drive a loop around the outside of the arena and thats it. get a timing of just how long he does it for so you can time it to stop running away and start attacking. his next attack is the center purple ability, again easy to do, try to make it so after the fire attack of his you stop close by a portal and not in the middle. he will jump to the middle and with correct positioning you will have no trouble getting to the next platform. next is his "light show" attack. super easy to deal with. just stand still and when you get a red circle under you drive forward just enough to get out of it. the more you drive around the higher your chance of hitting one so the less movement the better. once the portals open back up just drive through, you dont have to wait for the light show to stop. this all repeat until phase 2, in phase 2 he moves faster for the burning fire trail and he has chompy adds. deal with the fire trail the same way as before. the chompies in this fight is the real boss. they hit hard and are hard to dodge. my strat is to hang out on one side and let them come to me, i can kill 3-4 of them and once they get to close ( about 2 vehicle lengths away) i boost through them to get some distance. driving around like crazy never worked for me. if the portals are open you can also switch platforms if they are getting close, the chompies follow you but in there transition it gives you 1-2 seconds to re-position and kill the chompies before they can move again. this is where supercharging my vehicle made the difference, i was able to kill the chompies before i got swamped by all of them. one thing ive learned in nightmare modes, its not about defense its about offense. enemies cant kill you if they are already dead. plus when you die in 3-4 hits you going to want to dodge everything anyways. i hope these tips help you guys out a little bit, as for the tv issue, well not much can be done about that. |
