Gold is coming from everything in this game - race, random chests, even wishing well if you're unlucky - managed to get all upgrades for Spitfire on my first run skipping everything that wasn't immediately on my way, and there was still some to carelessly spend on shop rotation.

I AM kinda iffy on the rate though, Sapphires appeared more to buy than to win elsewhere. I guess it's a way to get them quick,but if you're just starting out you won't have characters with maxed out money like most people do.

Yeah Gold is not hard to come by. Frankly I'm kind of glad there isn't a major gold grind. I'd feel obligated to do it as "the best way" and the game would feel grindy again. I like it that the activities spread out the gold. Plus you can turn your Portal Master powers back and forth between gold and xp as needed. So far I'm fine with. Plus it's literally be launch + 5, what's the rush?

There's also no Wow Pows on Superchargers, so it's a looot less to spend to begin with on new guys. Everyone else you can go back to the TT save and spend away after a few rounds of Doom Challenge+Piggy Bank+Golden Queen.

20% off with 10 Winged Sapphires, add in the Leg. Treasures, The extra gold from Portal Master Perks and if you want extra gold from smashing boxes in Academy that's a lot of gold. Plus if you want to mix it up set perks to gain gold from racing and go race. It's really up to you how you want to do it. Hell chests reappear in levels you've already done. You can repeat favorite levels. Just make sure the gold gain perks are turned on.

I enjoy replaying levels with Skylanders to earn their gold. I get that some people want to level them up quickly, but I'm okay with the pace so far. You get to spend more time with the characters and see them evolve over each level. I found the first level's Chapter 3 & 4 have several easy gold collecting areas, though, and you can access them quickly from the Map.

Well, they could've gotten rid of sapphires altogether, like story scrolls and collectibles. Maybe you should be thankful they even included it.

The "story scrolls" this time are more of a quick reminder of the story than anything,since they're following the current events mostly or trivia that's mentioned in passing. MUCH better than Meditations on Boom but just as lore deprived.

Are sapphires randomly collected, just like all the legendary treasures, hats and soul gems? I'm still not used to this change from the previous games. I've only got 1 sapphire so far and I'm on world 8 or 9.

Randomly collected,they just seem to have dumb odds though. Got more Soul Gems than sapphires by the end; shouldn't the former be the actual rarest collectible?

Check the Academy store when ever you're at the Academy. Most of them were there, for me at least.

Oh and to add to their craziness, just wait til you go after hat 266. Everything that gives or sells a hat decides to give you money. It's as if Destiny's RNG made it into Superchargers.

I've placed all the money making treasures in the academy and the best I get is 1000 each time.

another thing I've noticed as well, the lack of arena challenges! they were useful for testing out new Skylanders!

I've read every post in here and I'm still not clear on what is selfish about any of this. Do you mean stingy? I don't agree with that, either, but I don't see how having fewer sapphires is selfish.

Luckily for me, my last hat is the Kickoff Hat, so if I'm so compelled, my Best Buy has a TON of Kickoff Countdowns

I find gearbits much harder to collect - maybe because I haven't done a lot of the extra Pandergast racing challenges, but I barely have enough for one shield/weapon upgrade at any given time.

There isnt as much to purchase as you can get everything from random chests and wish stones. You also get a lot more gold boosts through Skylander ranks

The OP is absurd. Think about it for 5 seconds before you go on a rant. It has nothing to do with being selfish and instead pulling the reigns back as gold isn't needed for as much stuff and is easier to come by. They also only bring in 20 characters. The 20 sapphires is for when you are trying to upgrade 32 new Skylanders.

As a side: I purchased 2 sapphires from the shop, got 5 from pendaghast, and the other 3 came from the well.

Yes, last game we had official "story scrolls" that were basically Flynn talking about enchalidas. The Kaos Diary "story scrolls" are a step up than last game but falls short of the lore pieces we got in previous entries.

Gearbits and to a lesser extend gold is a bit tougher. I'm sure I'm over halfway done now and no extreme "gold gimme" sections aren't apparent.

If you don't count Donkey Kong and Bowser, you only need to fully upgrade about 9 Skylanders right now at the time this was posted. That's not many. You can just take any other Skylander from a previous release back to your games with your 20+ Winged Sapphires and get a luxury discount there. Why's this such a problem? I find the increased challenge from upgrading Skylanders quite welcome. Besides, there are so many tricks you can use to get 2,000+ gold in a reasonable amount of time. You can:

--Open renewable treasure chests, pick up piles of gold and sometimes get gold from destroying pinatas by playing previous levels.
--Race on higher difficulty settings in Pandergast's racetracks.
--Play Skystones.
--Increase your difficulty setting to get more gold.
--And (most of all) change all of your portal master powers when you're at the Academy to give you more gold whenever you need to farm it, then change them back when you're done. (More gold from racing, adventuring, destroying boxes in the academy, from playing Skystones and probably more)

With enough gold boosts, you could make 2,000+ gold just by playing level 1. I've done it before.
