Amiibo Compatibility in other Games

I'm not sure wether to put this topic in Video Games or here, so I'll out it here.

So, since I live in New Zealand, I am not yet able to purchase the games for the Wii, Wii U & 3DS.
So I have been wondering about the Amiibo characters (Donkey Kong, Bowser and their dark versions) and their compatibility with other Nintendo games such as, Super Mario Maker and SSB Wii U & 3DS

So I have a couple of questions:

1. Do they get treated as different characters or just like normal Donkey Kong and Bowser. (Like are they called Turbo Charge & Hammer Slam in-game)
2. Are the dark versions special or treated like the others?

They are just a normal DK and Bowser amiibo in other games. And I'm pretty sure the same goes for the dark versions.

I can confirm that. I used my Turbo Charge Donkey Kong character in Smash Bros. with no differences from the regular amiibo. smilie

I pretty much assumed they wouldn't be any different from other DK & Bowser Amiibo...but I definitely hope the next Smash Bros includes Turbo Charge DK & Hammer Slam Bowser as alt costumes

This is because the figures use exactly the same chips as other amiibo figures. Placing HSB in one game is the same as placing a SSB Bowser or a SM Bowser. Same with DK.

Exactly. This is why you won't see Bowser with a hammer in Smash Bros. unless he picks one up that's just appeared in the stage!

So, at a scale, we have HSB. Now use DK and me him shoot the barrels that appear of the stage, and boom, Skylanders characters in Smash.
