Hi, I’m Shikra. This is the story of my life. I’m a pink dragon with neon green fur down my back and tail and some flops over my eyes. Unlike most dragons, I have ears that you can see. They stick up out of the neon fur on my head. I have black and green stripes down my back and tail. The black stripes are longer, but the green stripes are larger. The fingers of my wings are pink while the membrane is green. My chest plates are a duller green than my wing but still a light lime green.
I was born during Malefor’s rule. I guess I should start from the beginning. Malefor is a purple dragon, one who can control all elements but one; fire, ice, earth and electricity but not energy. I’m an energy dragon! Once he had learnt to use his powers, he used them for evil. He covered the world in darkness, fear and hatred. Even in those dark times the final surviving dragons found a place to hide. One of each element; a fire guardian, an electricity guardian, an ice guardian and an earth guardian. They took refuge in an old temple, protecting the years dragon eggs. Among the eggs was a purple one, the egg of a new purple dragon. But as soon as Malefor heard about it he sent his army of apes to destroy all the eggs in the temple but one. You see, he had been trapped in Convexity, a land of evil. Only a dragon could free him from that prison. When the female dragon hatched from the egg, she was darkness touched and turned evil. She captured all the dragon guardians and using a crystal she stole their powers. She needed one crystal of each element to free Malefor. And since she didn’t need an energy crystal, she managed to get all the crystals. She was called Cynder. But Ignitus the fire guardian had escaped with the purple egg, and sent it in a mushroom down the silver river, the long, winding river that twisted its way through the dragon realms. It was called the silver river because at night time it shone with as much light as the moon, and it looked like a big silver snake slithering through the forest of the landscape. A family of dragonflies found it and reared the dragon, he was called Spyro. Spyro was the one who saved the dragon guardians from Cynder and defeated her, turning her into the dragon she was born as, good. But before he could battle her she had activated the portal between Convexity and The Dragon Realms. But he was imprisoned in another place too. Since Cynder was no longer dark, he used the ape king Gaul to free him. He could only be released in the clear eclipse of both dragon moons, and that was a year after he had been freed from Convexity. Spyro and Cynder were battling Gaul at the time the eclipse happened. Malefor was freed from The Mountain of Malefor and it collapsed. Spyro and Cynder were trapped in a time crystal for 3 years before Malefor’s army freed them, so Malefor cold defeat them, but they won, and freed the world of darkness forever, or so they thought. Now, long after Spyro and Cynder had defeated him, Malefor is breaking free from the space between reality and dreams that all the souls of the dragons he had overpowered with his forces had banished him to.
And I’ll stop him. Me, Shikra, the energy dragon. Well, I’ll try. I’ll try. I don’t know how, but somehow I’ll defeat him. Forever. Maybe with a little help from my brother Zu. He’s a rather plain dragon but, hey, looks aren’t everything. He’ll get me when he reads this!
Okay, know you understand, I’ll really start my story. And It won’t be as long and boring as Zu’s, if he writes one.

Okay, I’ll start from when I really started my adventure, 10 months ago…


I walked through the seed curtain that covered the wide gaping mouth of me and Zu’s cave. Three of the strings had come off, and I was quite cross because I had spent ages making it as a present for Zu. Typical. Zu and I had hatched in an empty cave, with nothing but the bats. We’re quite friendly with the bats, as they’re the only flying mammals; we’re the only flying lizards. I could easily fix the seed curtain; it would just take a lot of searching. I set out into the forest to find some more of the seeds. After about 2 hours, I had found about 20 of the seeds, as they were quite rare. I flew to the colony of NightSpiders. NightSpiders are a type of arachnid that spins vine silk.
“Can I use some of you silk?” I asked. NightSpiders are not always the most agreeable creatures.
“ Only for 5 of your Tail feathers.” The NightSpider Queen, SpydesQueen, replied.
I curled my tail round to my claws and pulled 5 neon green feathers, painlessly from my tail and handed them to SpydesQueen. In return, she passed me a ball of the dark, muddy green vine silk.
