The only reason I put so high was because I haven't seen enough of him to hate him instantly

Now for the vehicles I have played as:

I can say from playing as these 6 vehicles that honestly they are all good, but Hot Streak is number one by far for overall playability, this will change I am sure, but I am loving the vehicles.

Of the ones I have used so far:

1. Dark Spitfire--His fiery tornado that follows enemies around and burns them is awesome! So is his Z-shaped fiery charge (hold attack 2)!

2. Stormblade--I like how disruptive and focused on speed her attack style is! Those needles she shoots off are blisteringly fast and add up in a hurry and her charge and spinning jump attacks are great for making certain enemies flinch.

3. Series 5 Gill Grunt--So far, he is far better than the original. His whirlpool upgrade while flying makes Gill Grunt more mobile than ever and his trident attacks are strong too!

4. Dive-Clops--I never thought he would work at first, but he's growing on me now. His torpedoes are great as homing projectiles and his sonar is fun to use too! All that really annoys me is his low damage output. But then again, mine isn't fully upgraded.

5. Series 4 Terrafin--More dynamic than the original. Earth swim is back, but with an attack that doesn't take as long to recover from as his old body slam, one could say it's an improvement. His ranged attacks are fun to play too, in conjunction with earth swim and his arm slam!

6. Fiesta--I like that he has a prop focused style with his amigos, but his damage output is terrible. Hopefully future upgrades will fix that.

7. Dark Donkey Kong--I can't find any way to attack enemies in close range safely, quickly defeat enemies or deal with crowds, including (embarrassingly enough) bone chompies from level 4 safely. Using him has not been fun so far.
