i've been debating this.

the dark one has spitfire, and the dark vehicles look great.

the downside is that it's not going to be at TRU or any best buys in my area. walmart sucks, and idk about target. my only option is gamestop. i want the game as soon as possible, and gamestop opens at 11am.

the regular one has no spitfire the barrel blaster looks ugly.

but the upside is it's cheaper, and available EVERYWHERE. i could go to toys r us at midnight and get it.

Regular.You will have more money to spend on skylanders and other stuff.

Well personally I'm getting Dark Wii U Starter and PS4 regular from TRU since they are apparently doing a 40% BOGO. The Dark D.K. is just so much cooler than the Yellow one...I.M.O.

Dark Edition- Comes with the Kaos Trophy and you like all the stuff in it. This is the only way to get Dark elemenal stuff.

Regular- You can buy more stuff you like but you lose the Kaos trophy and the darks.

Overall if I were you I'd go with Dark. It comes with more things you like and you get exlusive figures compared to the regular were you hate 1/3 of the items in it. Stealth Elf has a single pack and Donkey Kong will be easier to get than his dark counterpart when you look online.

It is the opposite for me, I prefer the regular version over the dark version.
That is why I am getting the Wii U regular starter pack and the Wii dark starter pack.

When you say it's cheaper you can look at it this way. (using gamestop prices) You will pay $25 more, but you are getting another vehicle and the kaos cup. So you can look at it as you are getting a $16 vehicle plus the kaos cup for $9.
Plus, if you want the Kaos cup, who knows if it will be released, or how much if it is.

Regular, wait until the dark ones hit preowned at gamestop.

Do all stores get the Dark Starter on Day 1 or is it just Game Stop?
I understand that the Wii Dark Starter is exclusive to TRU, but is it available on day 1?

I think that all stores will have Dark Edition on day 1.

I was confused with all the comments above. Sounded like some stores do not get them on day 1.
