For those without a Wii U and are considering it for SuperChargers, Best Buy has the 32GB console for $274.99, roughly $25 cheaper.

Can you justify getting a Wii U for some of the greatest games in recent memory, or are you gonna just stick to Knack?

no i got ps3/ps4 for all the good games, uncharted 1-4, last of us, destiny i got for free but that was a good game even if it was only half a game. ratchet and clank is only on ps3/ps4, killzone, resistance, the jak series, little big planet. fallout 4 coming out soon, but not on the wii u. outside of zelda and mario i cant think of many wii/ wii u games, but i did hear xenoblades was good.
but no lie, i would suggest people buy a ps3/ps4 just for the last of us, that game is just that good. |

So, you mean all the games you can play on the PS3? Why didn't you just get a much cheaper PS3 then, PS4 doesn't have anything.

Come on, arguing about wether Nintendo or Sony's 8th gen console is better guys? As a Nintendo-only player (not enough money or time for other consoles, even though I want them
![]() However, I'm very jealous of Bloodborne, TLoU, remastered R&C, LBP, Tearaway and a bunch of upcoming games, especially the FFs. There are also last-gen Sony exclusives I never got the chance to try and really want to and non-exclusives I can't play, but could in addition to Sony's exclusives, if I had a PS4. Both console publishers get their own worthwhile games (and probably Microsoft, though I haven't looked into their exclusives enough to judge). I wouldn't be making this post because I'm driving this further off-topic, but some of the replies about it here seem pretty mean-spirited. You guys need to chill, different people have different tastes. Honestly, kinda wish I had got a PS4 instead because people hyped up the Wii U exclusives a lot and they kinda underwhelm me (I like my 3DS a lot better because it has more worthwhile exclusives, it's portable and most of the Wii U games I like have a 3DS equivalent, some of which I even prefer like MK7 > MK8). Maybe I will get a PS4 if I don't buy SC.

sorry my last comment then ill just drop this.
i do have a ps3 (2 actually but 1 as YLOD on me 3 times so its retired) and for a game thats out on both ps3 and ps4 the ps4 version is much better. case and point ffxiv and COD:AW, the graphics difference is huge, nice on the ps4 and sickening on ps3. i also just got a wii as my sister no longer wants it but i only got mario cart for it, i want more games for it but im tight on money and i havent looked into wii games that much. if the wii u was much cheaper i might buy one, thats how i got a x360 and vita, got it off my friend for like half the retail price. again sorry for any issues, i like to debate consoles with my cousins alot and its hard for me to resist. ( by the way we all agree PC is the master race lol) |

On the nintendo front:
Mario Kart 8 Super Mario 3D World Super Mario Maker Super Smash Bros. 4 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Hyrule Warriors Bayonetta 2 Pokken The Wonderful 101 Zelda U Xenoblade X Pikmin 3 On the Sony Front: Bloodbourne The Last of Us Ratchet and Clank Final Fantasy XV Final Fantasy VII Kingdom Hearts III Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Pirate Warriors: One Piece 3 Call of Duty #28 or so... Both seem like REAL winners when it comes to lineup, guys. Now XBox ONE is the REAL loser in all this... Projected sales of ONE (WITHOUT factoring in the X360 that Microsoft REFUSES to list the sales as a separate number) are BARELY ahead of that of last gen tech of Wii U... When the specs are more comparable to the PS4... Because unlike EITHER of them, the ONE has little to offer that PS4 doesn't, and the U's lineup is entirely unique because of the lack of third party support. It relies on indies and first party. Edit: and that's why if you get two consoles this gen, make sure it's the Japanese Duo, and not cruddy American software. That's why I replaced my broken U with my excess money, and intend to pay for half a PS4 as a Christmas gift for my bro... If I have anything leftover, I'll replace my completely trashed 3DS with a New 3DS, and then, I'll be able to play nearly any current gen game I want (cruddy XBONE exclusives excluded)

LoL, you call XB1 a "loser", but most of your Sony list are PS3 games that have been remade. PS4, the best console to play last generation's games! Sure the XB1 has some remakes, but they actually have exclusives coming out before next Spring - and many good ones (Sunset Overdrive, Ori, Killer Instinct, Titanfall, Dead Rising 3 and upcoming Halo 5 and Tomb Raider this Fall). And if last generation's games are a big deal for you, I'd seriously be upset they aren't giving out backwards compatibility for free (like, ahem, XB1). Sure you can pay for the overpriced Now service, but I'd rather just use the games I already own. If you do like remakes, you have Gears of War, Halo MCC and Rare Replay as exclusives. "Cruddy American software"? You mean like Skylanders? Wrong place for that attitude. That was valid back in the SNES days, but most of the top tier games are made all over the world. Old stalwarts like Sega, Konami, Square and Capcom are all struggling to keep pace and have fallen from grace. Namco keeps up, but they have embraced a more worldwide development view. I find it funny you list Ratchet and Clank as a plus for PS4, which is made by an American developer, but lament "cruddy exclusives" like Sunset Overdrive which is made by the exact same people and is a very similar very good game set in an open world rather than restricted levels. I have both consoles (and a WiiU), so it isn't like I'm just being a fanboy for the XB1. Both are worthy to own. But claiming XB1 is a "loser" is just fanboy garbage. They made some mistakes early on, but they are really making up for it. The performance gap is almost negligible now and the feature list is impressive on top of XB1 now being the cheaper of the two. |

In my case I decided to get a PS3/PS4 because the majority of the games I love are on this console (Last of us, Dark Souls series, Skyrim, etc). I love dark games with dramatic storylines (the exception is Skylanders), and I think ps4 was well suited for my tastes. True, other games I love are also on X1 and Wii U, but only some of them.
I'm very ignorant when it comes to Nintendo, because I have never own one of their consoles, except for game boy advance, but I had the feeling that their games where a bit less darker than what I like.

Yes, my point is they are both very valid options in the US. Calling the XB1 exclusive lineup "cruddy" is just fanboy nonsense just as saying the PS4 doesn't have good reasons to buy that. I like the Souls games as well, in fact Bloodborne is the reason I traded in my PS3 in on a PS4 to play it. I'm glad Dark Souls 3 is multi platform, I mush prefer the XB1 controllers to the DualShock 4, the PS button placement is terrible - I got killed so many times from a thumb slip when I played that game. It's funny, every time they have shown the game so far I have seen it has been the XB1 version (you can tell by the button prompts). |

It's all down to taste. The games that I enjoy can be found on Wii U and PS4 (hence why I purchased both), however the majority of the games that I enjoy are on the Wii U which is why the Wii U is my favourite of the consoles this generation. Xbox One doesn't interest me whatsoever, it has only got two games that interest me (rare replay and sunset overdrive) but that isn't enough to justify such a purchase. Let's bring it back to skylanders - if you're looking for graphics the PS4 is for you, it's no secret that the PS4 has the superior graphical capabilities this generation and skylanders will the beautiful on the system (it will, of course still look stunning on the other consoles but the PS4 will have the edge). However, if you're looking for superior gameplay, the Wii U is for you, it has the most content, nuff said.

That's fine we can bring it back to Skylanders. But, that is still exactly what I was talking about, the Skylanders games (Trap Team and Swap Force, and likely Superchargers although it hasn't been officially stated) on PS4 and XB1 are equivalent graphically, both are 1080p and both run in full 60 fps. You cannot make a blanket statement that PS4 is "the best" or it has "the edge", because that is nonsense and false. They are identical.

It does have the edge though. Sure, if you compare both versions side by side, the differences between them are very miminal but the PS4 does have the edge. Sure, they can both run at 1080p 60fps but the textures will pop that little bit more on the PS4. Honestly, whatever version you choose the game is going to look fantastic, I'm just outlining the facts. The PS4 is more capable of running more graphically intense games thus will run 3rd party games that little bit better, that's not my opinion it's a fact. Besides, I'm not buying the PS4 version I'm buying the Wii U version of the game. |

No, it doesn't - those are not "the facts". I have all three consoles, and can compare on the same TV - not using screenshots or depending on various online opinions. There are minor color variations in Skylanders that have nothing to do with the performance, but textures are the same. Also, keep in mind that the XB1 was hamstringed by the Kinect, and earlier this year they opened up developer tools that allow them to utilize almost an entire extra core that was previously reserved for the Kinect. That has resulted in newer games running at parity (like Mad Max). But, less graphically intensive games like Skylanders are child's play for those consoles, and even a quick port job on early tools like Swap Force easily pulled off 1080p/60fps. The only reason the resolution debate is even still a thing is Sony fans are having a hard time coming to grips with their console not being the clear choice anymore. It's actually kind of funny given all the taunting they did early in the console cycle with the Antonio Banderas and Kaz GIFs they are looking down the barrel of a holiday season where all the big exclusives have been kicked to next year and the XB1 is adding things like backwards compatibility, not to mention not being the most expensive anymore. I consider it karma. The PS4 is going to have a great Spring for exclusives, but the XB1 is going to own the holiday season on this front. Don't get me wrong, I like my PS4 just fine. I'm playing MGS5 on it these days more than anything. I just abhor these "this console is better because <technical term that person doesn't really understand>" arguments. It comes from people's insecurity with not having the clearly superior option in all cases, or feeling that if they don't plug their console it will fall behind. I'm with you on the WiiU, though. We love ours, and I recommend it to anyone that isn't just looking for the yearly Call of Duty/Madden type games. There are just so many fun games that you won't find elsewhere. I'm not doing the WiiU version, I already have a Bowser and a Donkey Kong Amiibo, and am not really concerned with playing them in the game. I might consider it next year on clearance, just out of curiosity. I will probably pick up the 3DS version on Black Friday, my youngest loves racing games and it will be great on his 3DS. Besides, while I like the Bowser Skymiibo, I really am not fond of the Donkey Kong design at all. The best option for gaming these days is having a WiiU and either nextgen console. |

@defpally PS4 does have the edge. However, when playing a game it's hardly noticeable, it's only when you compare the same frame that you'll notice a difference, even then it's hard to decipher the differences between the two. Sony fanboys will attempt to mislead consumers into thinking the PS4 has substantialy better graphics than the Xbox One (some compare the difference between the two identical to the graphical difference between the Wii and, say the PS3) and I agree with you, there are many sony fanboys which will do so simply because of the fact that the sales between the PS4 and Xbox One are not as substantial as they once were. As I said in my earlier comment, whatever version you choose the game is going to look stunning and the Xbox One will look fantastic and, yes near identical to the PS4 when playing the game - it's only when you sit down to digest the frames that you may notice a slight difference between the two (ie: shading of a rock, a few more blades of grass). As a person that owns a PS4 and not an Xbox One, I agree the Xbox is perhaps receiving some of the best treatment this holiday season, I mean you're getting backwards compatibility whereas we have playstation now, a service which allows you to play PS3 games but at a ridiculously high subscription price.
I think that I've only purchased one PS4 game this year as of yet which was Shadow of mordor and that was a 3rd party game, the PS4 is certainly lacking in exclusives this year. I've actually purchased a vast amount of Wii U games this year which really does show that gameplay is superior to graphics. Yep, I 100% agree with you in that the best choice this generation is a Wii U, 3DS and either the PS4 or Xbox One as oppose to Xbox One and PS4 simply because of the fact of variety in the games - the Wii U perhaps is home to some of the best games this generation. @Drawdler Yes, I was really expecting a full animal crossing game to be revealed at E3 but to my disappointment, it was an animal crossing board game. It's a game that you can easily put hours into and get lost in that beautiful world of fantastic characters. |

#27 Posted: 17:44:57 16/09/2015
Fair enough. Yes, there is a technical edge that will never be completely overcome, but to be honest it is irrelevant. The XB1 has come a long way, and when it comes to multi-platform games, developers will more often than not code to a common standard, it doesn't suit them to have vast differences anyways, it leads to disgruntled players. Now they have put the Kinect (and the chunk of processing power it requires) basically out to pasture, they are very close. Close enough a good engine makes it negligible. I'm not someone that pauses and examines frames with a magnifying glass, but if someone is they would be much better suited toward PC gaming - they continue to evolve outside of "generations".
My main point is it irks me when people indicate there is a clear choice based on performance. Right now, that should not be the deciding factor, and for me my preference on multiplat titles the excellent XB1 controller is what decides in 95% of the cases given I have both options. And like I said, if you want good gaming this holiday season, you can't go wrong with an XB1. Or a PS4. Or a WiiU. Or a 3DS. What really sets me off is when Sony fanboys (which are the worst) start making up stuff when they are just salty because their big holiday exclusive is just a 3 pack of remastered PS3 games. By the way, you should add Ori to your list of exclusives you are missing out on. I just finished it and it was amazing. |
