So one thing about Skylanders figures is that sometimes they are kinda false advertising. You buy a figure that looks one way, but the character ends up looking another way once you're done upgrading them (at which point they will look that way forever unless you reset them). This is because of appearance changes triggered by upgrades, which can sometimes be awesome and sometimes not so much...

Anyway, what appearance changes would you like to see on the upcoming SuperChargers? What characters are you hoping don't get a major appearance change?

For me, I'm hoping Spitfire and Splat don't undergo any big changes. I like their current designs so much that and I'd hate for an upgrade to screw it up.

I'd also like to see Big Bubble Pop Fizz get an upgrade that makes his tuba look less...unwieldy somehow. Maybe make it look more like a Krazy Straw instead.

I hope Astroblast, Nightfall and Smash hit get no changes

I hope Thrillipede and Dive-Clops look a little better

This is just something that VV changed, and I don't know if all Gill Grunts were affected by the change but Deep Dive Gill Grunt's face looks less cute and more like an actual fish head, and his lower jaw is bigger,

I wouldn't want Spitfire, Splat, or Dive-Clops to look different, or change colors
I expect Roller Brawl will have an upgrade that will giver her different weapons/armor etc.

Side note, but I also didn't like how Sonic Boom's toy has black feathers, and her in-game form is Navy blue feathers
And Choppers gloves, Countdowns wires, Roller Brawl's eyes, etc.~

Like Dune Bug's gold armor, that may only be for a certain upgrade path.

I don't think any of the figures shown had their Soul Gems, since there were none in the footage and they seem to have been coded to have a full upgrade path on either at level 15.

Calm down, Muffin Man, you can always just not buy the upgrade. It seems to make his fire storm bigger so it might be a final upgrade path thing.

For those who haven't seen it,:40 of this video.
I still don't get why other than petty persistence. You already went out of your way to FINALLY make a Fire Skylander that isn't red hot, only to put him back into that.

He achieved physical perfection by being a one-dimensional character,if that helps any. Spitfire will probably be more than that as we'll see in the comic tomorrow, leader and all.

Oooh, yes.
I hate when my Skylanders drastically change appareance and I can't do anything about it (Soul Gems, main upgrades).

The everyone wins idea would be having an option to toggle aesthetic changes so you can choose whether to show them or not (hats should have a similar function).

I can stand Spitfire's fire turning orange but I will always look at my toy and say "why?".
I'm not sure Splat's hair are the result of an upgrade, we never really got to see the back of her head neither in her artwork nor in her toy.

Nightfall may change hair and have golden features on her dress (might be old models mind it) and I also think I saw Dive-Clops shooting orange torpedoes and maybe also using a slightly different weapon.

Stormblade's knives also slightly change if I remember correctly.

I was actually thinking how many SWAP Force characters never change appareance when fully upgraded: Zoo Lou, Stink Bomb (maybe), Rip Tide (unless you consider the glowing fish).
No one else I think.

That's 3 characters out of 32 at best.
Don't think TfB used changes that much: Spyro, Wrecking Ball, Hex, Zap, Sonic Boom, Whirlwind (I think), Camo, Drobot (I think), Sunburn, Eruptor.
And that's just considering SA.

TFB used more acessory changes than skin changes - Ignitor's sword became a trident, he got a shield, but never really anything that changed his colors or appearance, for example. Fright Rider goes through like 4 types of blade on a stick.

True.
And I sincerely prefer those to a "hey, let's cover your puffy character in a metallic armor because he'll look more resistant that way!" type of change.

Spitfire becoming orange is already not a good sign in my opinion.
Let's just hope they won't pull another Pop Thorn/Rubble Rouser/Rattle Shake idea this time.

I honestly wish they would START with the final product of an upgrade path. Make a Series two with the final product of the other and blam......everyone wins and you know which is which. I'd love a tricked out Dino-rang figure with his Obsidian Armor honestly (that isn't some lame brain Eons elite figure).

100% agreed. I mean, I can almost see why they wouldn't want to leave someone out if they chose an upgrade path with a final appearance that doesn't match the figure...but then why not just limit appearance changes to upgrades that aren't path-upgrades? Dino-Rang's armor could've been his soul gem, for instance. That way, when you buy a figure, you'd always know what the character will look like in their final appearance.

The orange fire looks MUCH better on Dark Spitfire. It changes his ugly black claws and torso into orange and such. I'm going down that path for DSF. while I'm gonna do the other path for Reg. Spitfire.

Speaking of Dark Spitfire I find it hilarious how his fire is black on his toy form but blue in-game.
Sincerely hoping they will fix that in the final version of the game because it is definitely not a small detail.

Dark Spitfire's flames are black on his artworks (both alone and with Dark Hot Streak) as well, so they really should adjust the in-game appearance to match.

Yep.

They could have even kept the blue for his fire since Dark Hot Streak's wheels are the same color but now it's easier to simply fix his in-game model.

Made a LIIITLE mistake there... Wrecking Ball's Tongue changes when it gets upgraded...

I liked how Giants S2 showed the full upgrades along a certain path (and oftentimes also the Soul Gem), like S2 Stealth Elf uses fully upgraded daggers, meaning she's a Pook Blade Saint... But S2 Ignitor has his L2 Sword, not his L3, meaning he walks the path of a fire spirit... (He also has his shield, meaning he has his Soul Gem ability) S2 Gill Grunt has his fully upgraded harpoons, making him Harpoon Path
They're my favorite because they are SIGNIFICANTLY higher quality than S1s, and because they aren't over the top like SF/TT reprints... No fancy name, no fancy gettup, just a fully upgraded (along one path) skylander, if a Wow Pow changed the look, it was a minor change, like a normal upgrade...

Actually I consider Wrecking Ball's tongue to simply be an attack which changes just like Spyro's fireballs.
You never really see both of those changes except for when you attack (even if I admit Wrecking Ball's tongue is indeed part of his body).

Also agree with you on reposes.

We went from showing how cool a Skylander is when fully upgraded or when he/she gains his/her Soul Gem to changing a lot of their looks when buying the Wow-Pow and finally now slapping over-the-top and sometimes ridiculous and unfitting suits on them.

Put an end to this, please.

But once you've upgraded them (which only takes a short while), they WOULD match. Forever. As opposed to just the little while it takes for you to upgrade them.

Plus gimmicklanders never get Series 2 figures, and yet they very often have very drastic appearance changes. Meaning most of the gimmicklander figures in my collection don't actually match their in game models, since I obviously upgraded them all a long time ago.

I understand it but I can stand some minor changes (so no Rubble Rouser, Pop Thorn, Rattle Shake or Dune Bug's lower path) and it makes more sense to have my character match his frozen form the first time I put him/her on the Portal.

S2/3/4 kinda ruin that idea even if one could say they were fully upgraded when frozen but their powers were wiped away when they were sent to Earth, but hey, I don't buy them so they don't bother me. smilie

I noticed another difference.
Fiesta's trumpet is decorated in his toy form but looks plain in-game.

And let's not even talk about Smash Hit toy form's boudler...
