Just got word from my local TRU - my store will be having a midnight release event for Superchargers.

Might check your local stores as well. :D

Stores here usually only work until 8pm

All I hope is that my local store actually unloads most of the boxes and has every figure on the shelf, unlike last year where they had no Legendary Nightmare Express packs.


And I seriously hope there aren't any chase figures for Wave 1.

I'm actually going to wait until like the afternoon, when hopefully everyone's gotten their Day 1 deals already.

Don't know if mine will.

Mine literally never does, and that's a good thing. I prefer to get up, have breakfast, and get to TRU hlaf an hour before they open.

I never been to TRU on day one, so I would like to go to midnight release.

I just figured most people would probably be flooding the stores (or electronics sections at least) during the morning hours because "GOTTA GET DIS GAME SOON AS POSSIBULL!", so it'd be a good idea to go later after they've restocked the shelves.
And actually, I'm getting the game a whole day later due to Amazon pre-orders, so I'll mostly just be looking for figures.

Wave 1 and 2 are usually well stocked, literally to the brim for at least months...unlike the shaky wave 3 and on. the only reason to "rush" would be to capture the unique day one sales. TRU typically has em beat. Not commiting on day one buy until I know what the deal is...given TRU's bump prices I may opt for Best Buy with my Game Club discount or simply wait for online sales.

I never go to Midnight releases.

If Wave 1 and 2 are released on day 1 i'll be excited and sorta disappointed.

1. I'll be excited because it's some of my favorite characters (I'm looking at you Nightfall and Smash hit)

2. Kinda disappointed because 1, I won't really have much to get on Christmas, And 2 because I won't be able to get Dive-Clops and Stormblade. I kinda wanted those. on Day 1 and then maybe go back a few days after and get Nightfall and Smash Hit (though they would probably be sold out)

But it's best to get Wave 2 since Stormblade and Dive-Clops will be shelfwarmers so everything works out in the end

I'll try to do a midnight launch. this is my LAST skylanders game, so i wanna go out with a bang.

Sadly, my son no longer wants to participate in the game. I plan on getting it simply to leverage my "investment" in the mountain of plastic. I may not be far behind you Zap. Ironically, you'll find you spent most of your childhood chasing adulthood whereas the inverse will be true about a decade later.

I'm 46 and I plan to get this one as well as the next. I enjoy Skylanders. I even turned down purchasing a DI 3.0 Saga Bundle for PS3 at TRU......a Sags Bundle.
That's everything in the regular starter pack, plus 3 more figures (Luke, Leia and Boba Fett) plus The Rise of the Empire play set (episodes 4-6) and the Toy Box Takeover. All for $115.
But I've already pre-ordered both standard and DE SSC starter packs.
As for a midnight release, I'm a bit mixed but I'm leaning towards what mega spyro said. I would rather get there early and grab some breakfast, plus I'm going to hit GameStop (Frightful Fiesta and DE starter pack), Best Buy (Steel-Plated Smash Hit) and Target (Nitro Stealth Stinger). If I don't get the last two, no big deal, but I love the Holiday variants (wasn't fond of the Easter Weeruptor)

It's something I like. Not them so i will play it until the last Skylanders Game!

And recently introduced the series to a friend that's a year or two older than me - she loved it! The best games are those that can appeal beyond their 'target demographic' - there's a reason why board games with age recommendations often say things like '9-99' instead of insisting on an upper limit.

That being said, there's nothing wrong with feeling like you've outgrown something as well. Computer games are for having fun, you should never feel obligated to keep investing in a franchise that's no longer fun for you.

I don't think there'll be a midnight release for SC down under, but I probably wouldn't go if there was. If something's so hard to get that I might miss out by walking into the store around noon (or whenever) on the first day it comes out, I think I can survive without ; P

That's why I'm embracing my childhood. Skylanders always brings out the kid in me, so I'll stick with it to the very last minute (maybe skip a game or two and pick it up later depending on its gimmick)! Ironically enough, I haven't once tried a midnight release though. I don't think I'll bother checking for a midnight release this year either since I like waking up to a morning of new Skylanders. It's fun going to a whole bunch of places in a short time and coming home with one big haul from all the stores.

After five years, I have nearly all the green based figures... I'm missing Volcanic Vault, the Empire of Ice, Sky Iron Shield, Anvil Rain, and all the Sidekicks... Skylander-wise, I'm missing Whirlwind, Cynder, Drill Sergeant, Lightning Rod, Zook, Chop-Chop, Bash, and Wham-Shell (and Slam Bam), I'm missing all but 10 blue based figures, most of the traps, TT cores, and all of the TT variants... (But i have both expansions and one of the adventure packs)
I still wanna have em' all, but I'm not even going to TRY to complete it before I start my career...

Yeah, there's a lot of "senior game players" here...it's captivated kids of all ages. No shame in liking the game. Do what you like (that's legal). Life is too short.

My TRU (Fullerton) is opening 8 AM on 9/20, which is fine because not too many people are there that early. Either at work or in church.
Plus I can get the exclusives @ Target, Best Buy and GameStop (which I alps pick up my DE starter pack). I'll have a nice haul, then get home and begin playing.

Good question....I've only been there once in the last 3-4 months and at the time they were only allowing preorders for the Dark Wii edition. Not sure what that means (it may just mean they only had cards for that version).

Yep, unless TRU has another awesome sale on Starters, like last year (free adventure pack with purchase), I'll pick it up Black Friday at Best Buy for 20% off on the sale price. Not worried about the Dark Edition, not doing variants this time.

Which reminds me i should prob preorder the dark from bestbuy for same day pickup cause idk if they will carry them in store.


Day one is going to me just starter packs, going hold off on the rest till xmas time it looks. Moneys tight as we just got a new car.

Are you sure the 20% works on Skylanders figures too? My cousin has that I used it to preorder the Dark edition but I didn't know it would work on the figures too. I remember a little bit a go we went to buy a controller and the guy at the register said the 20% only applies to games

I have the gamers club membership and plan on using it for my ps4 dark edition if tru doesn't carry more than the wii version. I'm hoping for a similar situation to last year where I can use the midnight bogo 50% off sale with both dark editions.

It's been well documented that the BB club works on Skylander figures. It's a very good deal and everyone who has a best buy should be taking advantage of it.

Your a parent aren't you? If you didn't have kids you'd still keep on going?

Not a parent, no kids. And I'm going to be at my TRU early before they open to get my first batch of stuff, then hit Target for Nitro Stealth Stinger, followed by BB and GameStop.
I play Skylanders more than any other game, other than the Lego games. It's simple to play compared to my other games. It's less frustrating as well, thought I do have my moments, especially in SF trying to unlock some of the bonus missions.

True, but no guarantees. I think the bottom line is if the TRU managers allows it to happen, really. Most of them are cool, and unless there's a register lock for them, they'll be more than happy to get rid of it.

I'm hoping for that to happen when I get there for the 8 AM opening. I even moved my event I'm going to from 9/19 to 9/18 so I can be at TRU when they open.
Would be funny if they had ALL of the Dark Edition starter packs there, and I pre-ordered mine at GS.

Well, they weren't nationwide as I still ended up having to trudge back to mine on Tuesday morning to try to snag everything before it vanished into oblivion.

If that's true, I'll have to start pestering mine when the time gets closer and have them actually scan the stuff and see if they're willing to put it all out. (And save me and a bunch of others the headache of having to reschedule work to pick up toys, lol)

^I can only speak for last year...there was no problem getting Wave 2 at midnight at MY location. I'm pretty sure you know where I go.

You might want to call and/or check the list, as it appears that not all locations are on the list and not all locations on the list are actually having midnight releases. It sounds like the list got put together before worker availability was known in a lot of cases, so it doesn't hurt to double check both places (if you haven't already).
