The new guide book will be made by Prima instead of Bradygames.

So hopefully there won't be as many mistakes.
What do you think will it be better, worse or stay pretty much the same as the previous ones?

Old news, several weeks old actually.
Never needed them, but I've seen people talk about some weeeird mistakes in previous ones.

News to this now passive member, so value provided. Thank you. It's only old if the news is common--and since I don't hang on to every word here anymore, this is a good callout.
Frankly dark52's walkthroughs are 10x better than any of those guides. They lost me as a customer when they were incomplete (and incorrect) so much in the last guide. For me the guides act as a memento to the game. My son loves to read these when we are on car trips. |

was the last guide missing anything other than Light and Dark? If not, calling them out for lack of completeness is a little unfair.

Well that'd be because Brady and Prima merged earlier this year.

Some articles today also mention the Collector's Edition of it having a special edition of the upcoming Skylanders SC comic season. They don't specify which but it's probably Season 2 Issue 1 since Rift into Overdrive is 66 pages long, not 32 like mentioned.

The only stuff the Trap Team guide book was missing was the Light and Dark elements, which is understandable since they were trying (poorly) to keep them a secret, and the entire section on Bruiser Cruiser, which is inexcusable. They literally didn't get a single thing about Bruiser Cruiser right, the picture they used for his boss fight was just Shrednaught.

Forgot about the source.
Wait,so they had a section on Shrednaught twice?

Nope, they just... completely cut out every mention of Bruiser Cruiser besides his boss fight.

I get the fact that Activision was trying to keep a secret, but like you say it was poorly executed because the product I would've paid for was incomplete. Not even sure anyone was able to download the updates that included the light and dark sections--would be interested to know if anyone was successfully able to do that. Ill conceived. It was the first guide from Skylanders I skipped. |

It's not a super great guide, but it DID help me get the collectables, so it's more useful than the Sonic 06 guide.

I agree. I actually liked the trophies and collectables in the Swap Force guide. It's really not a game that NEEDS a guide but like I said "a trip through memory lane" and to remind you 10 years down the road when you forget all about the game it may be useful ![]() |

TT guide was also missing all the old characters (except the five with reposes) and IIRC didn't have character strategies (but I'm probably misremembering that bit, I know that at least the villains didn't have that, which is kinda lame)
I think they cut the old characters out in SF's guide first though Either way, these games aren't very difficult ad the combat tips that are given in the guide are unhelpful, so they honestly weren't very good in the first place.

I know GM78 didn't give them a pass for cutting characters, but I think they at least listed them somewhere but only communicated the official characters introduced in the game. I think that's a happy middle ground, personally. I think they would be MUCH BETTER off coming out with a skylander roster detail guide ALL BY ITSELF that is 100% complete and updated every year, and leave these guides just for the game itself. I'm guessing though that would not fly because the guide would probably be less than 100 pages. Maybe it would work better as a $10 pocket reference for the game itself and then include a 100% complete roster guide by editions--and give folks the options of subscribing to it and getting a discount for the next year edition.

To be fair, they seem to have left the actual character guides to the Annual and Master Eon's Guide - though the latter used to have mistakes, not too sure if the TT one improved. They probably know by know that you can easily check upgrades and backstories in the official site or walkthroughs, and the lore goes on the Universe books.

Kind of cool. I trust Dark's more though lol
I remember back when SSA was out we were all hyped about the book coming out because it had the information about Empire of Ice and Dragon's Peak. But now the whole game gets spoiled/we find out all the info on the games so there's nothing interesting to be revealed ;-;

I didn't like the fact they cut out Light and Dark stuff from the guide, thus making it an incomplete guide, but I still bought it to bookshelf with the other guides. This years guide will probably be complete, barring any typical errors. I wish the guides still covered all Skylanders though, instead of only figures from the latest game.
