So i was kinda thinking about buying the game BUT do we have to buy a vehicle of each element like we had in Trap Team? (ugh trap masters and traps...) or can we just finish the game with one car, one boat and one plane? (and our old collection of Skylanders of course for the gates)

One Supercharger for the gates, one vehicle of each terrain, Land is required to finish story mode. There appears to be element specific vehicle gates in the hub but we don't know if they unlock anything.

You only need a Land Vehicle and Skylander to complete the game.

Just don't forget about Villain Trophies is you want more online racing tracks too - Golden Queen for Sea, Wolfgang for Sky, Count Moneybone for Land. They also unlock villains for racing but exactly who other than the namesakes is unclear. Not required to finish anything in the main game apparently but if you invest in online you might want variety(unless other players can share unlocked tracks, then you might want to look out for future events the forum might do instead)

I think for 100% You need one Super Charger. One Vehicle of each type and all the Trophies since there may be certain items in them needed to 100% It.
