It just occurred to me. There is assumedly a racing mode in the core Skylanders SuperChargers game, and the Wii and 3DS versions seem to be entirely focused on races. Add in the three Vehicle classes, and it's suspiciously similar to one of the greatest Nintendo 64 games, Diddy Kong Racing. In that title, characters were able to drive a car, ride a hovercraft or pilot a plane around 20 different racetracks, with each course suited to one or more kinds of vehicle. I'm wondering if SuperChargers might be inspired by DKR, or if it's all a coincidence.

I'd say it might be indirectly inspired. Diddy Kong Racing basically popularized the concept of Land/Sea/Air gameplay in a kart racer and since then it's become more common. It also was one of the first and only games to merge kart racing with exploration, and SuperChargers seems to be following in that regard as well.

I'd say it's more similar to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which also featured Land/Sea/Air racing action.

No, I'd say its more Diddy Kong Racing. Transformed had on the fly transformations, while DKR had singular races for each of them, like Superchargers.
