Can't seem to find a ton of info about the Wii and 3DS versions, other than the fact that they're racing-only. Is one a port of the other? Or will they be unique games, like the 3DS ones have been up to this point? I'm excited about the prospect of 3 unique SuperChargers experiences this coming iteration...

There is really just that on the Wii and 3DS versions at the time. They said they'll be similar, but didn't specify anything really.

It's a safe assumption they'll be nearly identical games. They've both been giving the RACING sub-name, for one thing, and also they're both Nintendo consoles (DK and Bowser, etc.). The Wii one will look nicer, but I don't expect much of anything beyond that.

We're just 2 months away. Still a lot unknown on this game-that's why I'm sticking to the digital download until I know more.

3ds has always been different from the other consoles so I'd say it be different from the Wii but not much.

My guess is that they will be mostly the same except with different graphics. The Wii version will probably have a downgraded version of the normal graphical style of the main console games, whereas the 3DS version will have the same graphical style as all the previous 3DS games.
The only gameplay difference I'm expecting and hoping for is split screen multiplayer in the Wii version. That alone will make the Wii version worth getting over the 3DS version.

Well the Wii version comes with a portal that can read traps, (tho it has not been proving the Wii version can use traps) but none of the 3DS portals have trap support. So my guess would be basically same game but Wii will give trap boost like the other consoles.

Yeah, they weren't aiming that statement at the completionist crowd.
Think about it from their perspective. They want to make and sell a product to people who have a casual interest in buying figures and games, so they use various methods to entice this casual audience to buy their figures and games, such as fancy new gimmicks, pack-in exclusives, and cool looking variants that are designed to lure buyers who would pass over (or at least wait longer to buy) the normal version. The methods work, bringing in tons of casual gamers. Then along comes a much smaller group of people who start complaining that Activision's methods are making it difficult and expensive for them to buy every single figure and variant. Activision's thoughts are probably something like "But we never even intended for people to buy every single figure and variant....why should we stop using effective methods at the request of an audience we weren't targeting in the first place?"

The only difference is their portal compatibilities. The Wii version, as well as the rest of the home consoles, have a brand new SuperCharger Portal whereas the 3DS only has the same one since Swap Force. Once you place the Skylanders and Vehicles on the 3DS portal, the game will absorb their data and save it. The home console portals don't apparently.
