We barely have gameplay for most of the Skylanders. But from the look of things, probably a lot of Land vehicles - most people will probably stick to two favorites and only use the rest for upgrades.

And Deep Dive Gill Grunt will probably be a close second.

and thats gonna be a huge problem because the shops are not gonna restock before they sold out. so if you want specific vehicle for the upgrades etc you will struggle big time... just look at the traps from trap team and see what awaits you.

You don't need specific vehicles for upgrades - I mean people will max them out and never look again, because say you'll only want to play as E3 Hot Streak and Shark Tank since they all can be used to beat the game - unless one of them is super OP you won't have a reason to play the ones you don't like, they're not Skylanders who have their own gimmicks and pacing.

It really depends on how the waves are structured, if they'll artificially create scarcity by limiting characters, which characters are actually in the waves and how many of each they put into the boxes.

Logically, Activision will at least wait to see how early digital sales went first before deciding how many carded Stealth Elves to churn out as that's really the only market for them other than people like myself who would gladly buy doubles of their favorite characters even if the package is different. Stealth Elf should be in the final wave and limited to one per box, so I highly doubt she'd be the peg warmer queen of Skylanders as few stores stock up on the that wave anyway.

More logically it is going to be a wave one character that they are super hyped over which didn't go over that well with the fans. Slobbertooth and Zoo Lou are perfect examples of this. There are so many to pick from the wave ones this time around that it's hard to tell which ones will peg warm. I'm saying Terrafin or Dive-Clops if they double them up per box and have them in the second wave to as filler to pad out the waves.

High Volt and Nightfall I feel may actually end up being in high demand as Activision should "Amiibo" their scarcity to sell them out. Stormblade and Fiesta should be easy to get but won't peg warm. I have no opinion on Smash it just yet but he could end up in the High Volt/Nightfall situation. Honestly it's really to early to guess, but if I were in charge of the releasing, this is basically how I would structure it and deal with the Stealth Elf issue.

What? If there are less figures, people will at least go for a few favorites. The game itself would have to be incredibly bad for every single figure to not sell well. Not bad like 'omg no innovation', I mean bad like Aliens Colonial Marines.

( edit: brain stopped working and I thought shelf warmers as in literally on people's shelves after they were bought. In portuguese we specifically refer to store shelves like that so it's kinda confusing at first, edited to match the actual term)

i agree with all of this. I feel gill grunt and his vehicle in separate packs will also shelf warm. the only thing of his that will sell is the action pack he has with the trophy. those will be the only way to move certain figures people wouldn't bother buying in the first place. both light and dark figures will sell well easily but the reimagines i expect to peg warm terribly with stealth elf near the top. dive clops doesn't seem all that attractive unless you are a younger gamer. his design looks that much like it would be despite some of the more serious designs of other figures. i think he'll shelf warm as well.

the thing that was weird with gearshift is that you could "only get her in 2014 if you pre-order", but she got shipped out in cases and was put on shelves...

Not gonna lie, but I have a lot of theories on the shelfwarmer this year. Most of the returning guys like smilie and smilie are definitely a given, but I'm gonna say Stormblade, High Volt and/or Smash It. Stormblade may be common and Smash It and High Volt sadly may not be all that popular for some reason.

The digital version comes with only ("instant" versions of) Spitfire and Hot Streak, so they have to offer Stealth Elf individually.

Seriously, though, no idea who you might be referring to. Cynder, maybe? I know that the starter figures (regular S2 Cynder, lightcore Jet Vac) just sat and sat and sat in my area since most everybody already had them (or multiples) due to the starters.

In my area it was definitely Head Rush. Every Target I've ever visited has had nothing but mountains of Head Rush, that's it. With other stores it's not quite so bad, but Head Rush still outnumbers everything. Meanwhile I have never seen Wallop in the wild, likely because everyone is buying him instead of Head Rush.

It's a shame but I think the reason Head Rush hasn't sold so well is because her body type is too different from what normally sells well among female characters (typically female skylanders are either dragon-shaped or are shaped like sexy/cute humanoids with an hourglass figure). Most little boys out there just aren't gonna be interested in choosing a heavyset female viking as their earth element Trap Master.

Not just that, she's not really fun to play as compared to wallop, being able to drop the hammer is alot funner then just charging as a main attack.
