Any thoughts on splat's name? I think that splat is a very unusual name, even for skylanders

Yeah that name's got to go. I'm thinking "Fawntasia". My daughter might want something like 'Hanna Fawntana". Once we see some game play it might be easier to come up with a name.

It looks like Splat, according to her figure on the recent SSC update, seems to be holding a combo of a magic staff and a paintbrush. Perhaps she uses this weapon to splatter enemies with a magic substance?

As uncreative as it is it may suits the character very well.

I was thinking about it right today: some Skylanders apparently have been born with their names.
How did Food Fight's parents knew he would have used plants powers and weapons in the future...?
Or how did Jet-Vac's...?
Or even Double Trouble...?

Maybe they are actually the name they choosed when they became Skylanders but some backstories are ambiguous about it.

Splat doesn't suits her as far as the humanoid-goat theme goes but she seems to have some painting/brushing related abilities so... It may actually be a "clever" name if she also splats enemies with her brush.

We'll see... smilie

It's not that unusal of a name considering Bash exists. Personally I thought Splat was a play on the sound that Goats make. SPLAAAAAT. I didn't think it would be paint related until I seen her figure image and then it made more sense. The trouble is that it's too much of a Splatoon "homage." May as well make her into a Splatoon Amiibo crossover character you know?

Guys some character names are pseudonyms. Some even have their real names in backstories - it's like superhero names and whatnot.
I still stand my point that Splat is very uninspired and creative - and it's not running out of ideas, it's not doing any research. So many brush and art puns, even more popular with Splatoon's inkbrush weapon around.

I like that names such as Splat, Bash, and Camo exist. Too many of the names are two-part puns. I understood why for swap force characters, but beyond that it gets old.

How is it a Splatoon homage? Inklings shoot ink out of guns. Splat uses a magic paintbrush. If anything the idea was taken from Epic Mickey, which also features a magic paintbrush.

The paint related theme naturally. Splatoons are not just paint guns, they have rollers too and whatever else. I've not personally played it so I don't know their full line up of weapons. If oversized paintbruses are not in Splatoon right now, then surely they will be in the second game.

There is indeed a giant paintbrush in Splatoon.

Also, I think a better name would be "Splatterhorn"

The guns are the primary weapons, though. Yes there is an oversized paintbrush (though it's not a magic paintbrush), but it's hardly a prominent element of the game, it's not even on the boxart and was only included as DLC after the game was released. In contrast, in Epic Mickey the magic paintbrush was a core element of the game and was prominently featured on the boxart.

I agree. I have always thought skylanders were named skylanders after they were appointed by eon

Someone pointed out she isn't exactly using a paintbrush, but a staff with an orb at the end. Maybe someone with dimensional powers that just looks like rainbow paint?

Sure I believe that.

Could be a magical paintbrush with a magical orb of some kind which can still create a stream of color.
Or maybe the perspective is tricking us.

It does have a pink gem at the other end which definitely gives a much more magical feel to her paintbrush/staff.
Her abilities must be awesome no matter what from the look of it.
