How would you have done this toy line?

So, since the reveal leak, while very good, I'm ever so slightly disappointed with the small amount of characters. I've been thinking about what I would have done to have more characters, while keeping all vehicles.

Here's what I would have done.

20 new characters (Ten of which are Super Chargers, the other ten are cores)

18 re imagined characters (Ten of which are Super chargers, the other eight are just classic ones with new movesets.

Here is the list

Fire: Spitfire, new fire core, LL Eruptor, and Hotdog.

Magic: Splat, new magic core, Spyro and BB Pop Fizz (I'm debating on whether I should have Spyro or Pop Fizz be the super charger).

Undead: Fiesta, new undead core, Ghost Roaster and Roller Brawl.

Life: Thrilipede, new life core, SSSE and Zoo Lou.

Earth: Smash It/Hit, new earth core, SS Terrafin and Slobbertooth.

Water: Dive-clops, new water core, DDGG, and Riptide.

Air: Stormblade, new air core, Hurricane Jet-Vac and Warnado.

Tech: High Volt, new tech core, DDTH and Countdown.

Dark: Night fall and new dark core.

Light: Astroblast and new light core.


How do you all feel about my idea? I'd love feed back!

20 characters, all new. No reposes, but the veterans that appear in Rift to Overdrive have a reduced ability to mod vehicles but not power any of them up.
No Trophies, just Traps. Adventure Packs still around, and they unlock levels in the main consoles and tracks in 3DS/Wii.

Makes a lot of sense. I would like the vets to have some capability there and would be a nice tie in. Also would make those missing spyro a chance of him to help out here. Though I can see the trophies in a different way. Not used for unlocking villains but separate courses and levels, make the trophies adventure levels. Maybe that's what they are.

I'd put more of the action packs out there for certain characters and have less single packs to collect.

Taking that last ride through the sunset on skylanders. Hopefully a return of more classic spyro gameplay in the horizon.

Considering the toyline is still Vehicular based, I would keep the 20 20 Supercharger/Vehicle split. Though Bowser and DK would be additional to the 20 rather than part of it.

My returning cores pick would be different though. Rather than "fan favourites" I would pick Skylanders that would, in lore terms, actually need a new playstyle because of how their vehicle would be handled. smilie smilie smilie smilie smiliesmilie smilie and smilie

smilie would be renamed just 'Rider' after his SC prefix, as Fright would be part of his vehicle; A bone greek-chariot pulled by Fright.
smilie would be renamed just 'Rocky' after his SC prefix, as Roll would be part of his vehicle; a Flintstone car construct around Roll.
smilie would move on foot, a suped-up version of his tread bike now his vehicle.
smilie would now focus on using a shotgun-like weapon, and a suped-up version of angry bike would be his vehicle.
smilie would move on foot, with a flying vehicle powered by his magic carpet.
smilie would have a wingglider vehicle powered by his shaman birds
smilie would now be more of a brawler playstyle, with a ship as his vehicle
smilie would have a way to cycle through the elements for his breath attack which each would have a different effect and draw on the breath types of old, like Kaos' primary attack.

We'd get two new Superchargers for the light and dark elements each rather than just one. An arachnes for dark and a martian for light.

There'd be 8 elemental cups sold with a trap, each one when paired with a trap would allow you to race against whatever villain was in said trap (so a water cup paired with a trap holding, say, Cross Crow, Cross Crow would show up in his own vehicle to race against you.)

Two new Adventure levels that come with Supercharger and Vehicle. Thrillipede and Buzzwing in one, Splat and Splatter Splasher in the other.

40 characters (36 probably since Light and Dark usually have less character than the other Elements).

20 or 18 of them are SuperChargers (which looks absolutely like the other characters but have a more "driver" feeling so the ones which already exsists are absolutely fine) with their own vehicles and the remaining ones are Cores.

NO revamps and NO reposes and I absolutely agree with Bifrost: all the characters which appear in the prequel comic get to unlock special mods in each of their form but that's it.

There will be palette swaps of course.

And no Skymiibos.

Traps work just like they did in Trap Team but if you use a Doom Raider you will automatically get a vehicle for him/her you can use when near a rift.
Trophies for all the Doom Raiders (Pain-Yatta included) are sold separately and work just like traps so if your started your Portal Master adventure with this game you won't miss anything.

Combo Packs are there, Adventure Packs are back but this time they come with a SuperCharger, his/her vehicle and the Adventure Piece.
No Magic Items.

All the Skylanders and all the vehicles are also sold separately.

Starter Pack contains Spitfire, Hot Streak and another vehicle.
Dark Editions contain different character but they are always paired (Dark Dive-Bomber is with Dark Dive-Clops) and the special Kaos Trophy.

All the characters cost 10$/€, vehicles cost 12$/€, Combo Packs cost 20$/$ and Adventure Packs are still 25$/€.

I'd probably have done 20 SuperChargers and 20 vehicles. 2 pairs are Nintendo exclusive, 10 are brand new, and 8 are re-imagined versions of already existing Skylanders. That sounds just about perfect.

...

...Well, okay, I'd want to have way more Nintendo exclusives. :)

EDIT:
The only thing I'd want to change is putting Dark Super Shot Stealth Elf and the Dark Sea Shadow in the Wii Dark Edition instead of Dark Spitfire and the Dark Hot Streak.

I actually wouldn't have done any reposes of anyone who's already been reposed twice. I don't care that she's new, its STILL Stealth Elf, its still Terrafin, its still Eruptor, its still Jet-Vac.

I think the biggest 'pro' about this release is that the toys are closer to actual 'toys'. It's a little thing, but the cars have moving wheels...that's huge for me, instead of spending I guess 15 on something to just sit on a shelf, it can actually be played with by my son. The change I would make would be striving for at least a 'little' articulation in the figures. I understand why they don't and I'm not knocking them for it, its just "we are getting closer" to what would have been cool when I was a kid, having my TMNT and GI Joe fight in my room, and then play them on my Nintendo. I see the cars and have flashbacks to slot cars, and want to put them down on a track and physically race them with my son. It just feels real close to an 'ideal' place, but with them not revisiting 'gimmicks', it means we won't get there. The people who make the plastic storage bins for playing in like Flynn's castle will do some extravagant but WAY overpriced and cheaply made (shots thrown, their quality is crap) thing, instead of a customizable, build-able racetrack - like the slot cars.

They get extra points if Eruptor can turn into a motorcycle to do the car portions...
