Hi Guys,

I think the trophy piece is an unlock for kaos' doom jet/location piece but interestingly enough while looking at it closely....could it also be a unigue trap holder for the kaos trap????

If you look closely at the top of Kaos' head, towards the back - you can see the outline of the inside of the cup but if you look under his chin at what looks to be the same triangular shape as the end of all the traps which leads me to my opininon/speculation that it's a trap holder enabling kaos villain & vehicle..........

Nowhere can a side shot/angled pic be found to prove or disprove this theory.

What are your thoughts/speculations?

The bits behind his head are the band to his horn crown thing that holds it in place.

That sounds like a cool theory and I could see it happening, perhaps, but something about a Kaos head sitting on top of a slightly bigger Kaos head sounds a little... terrifying

I am pretty sure that this will not happen. I do, however, like the idea of this trophy opening up the ability to race, but not otherwise play, as Kaos. The trophy would open up a new racetrack, as well. Other trophies would be sold where select villains or NPCs could be unlocked with their own racetracks, as well.

Since there will be a Kaos Trophy, does this mean there will be Elemental Trophies, such as Water, Undead and Dark?

@ TheShadowDragon that sounds like a good idea so long as their is just one per element I don't want it to get ridiculous like how it is with the traps.

Further for my reasoning for a trap holder is the fact that it's actually a cup rather than a trophy (I could be wrong but I don't believe trophies usually have handles where as cups do!) & yes they may have one for every element or it may just be this piece that all traps can go into.

I believe I read somewhere that the traps would add upgrades or weapons or something along those lines..........think about it also that it was said that the old portals could be used (giants/swap force) - well how are they meant to read the traps?? this kaos piece will be the middle man so to speak......(an add-on trap reader/go between)

Sure, that could work. V.V. was the first to incorporate the duel chip system. It would be AMAZING if there were other trophies that could hold other Villain drivers. I'm thinking Wolfgang would have an AMAZING vehicle.

Here's a bigger/higher resolution of the pack, look at the side of the box for the figures/cars - looks like kaos on top of the cup as i've implied!!!

I don't see it, but I can see that the WiiU poster does have two more characters (obviously DK and Bowser), confirming the 'only 16 characters for the other consoles' speculation.

Actually, plenty of trophies are cups with handles. Have you ever played Mario Kart? In fact cup is the first synonym of trophy and the definition of trophy actually has the word cup in it.

I doubt it is a trap holder. It would seem kind of silly sitting on top of a bigger Kaos head.

I did have an idea--not really a theory-- that this Dark edition Kaos Trophy, like the Ultimate Kaos trap from last year, will remain exclusive to the starter packs and they will sell individual trophy bases to place your Kaos traps inside.

Though, I rather hope that regular or standard Kaos Trophies will be sold instead of implementing a slot for traps when they already have a slot inside the new portal. But more so in my opinion, it gives the possibility to have molds of other important characters in the form of these trophies.

Who else is secretly hoping for a "Boom-tastic Sky Race of Awesomeness and Extra Cheesy Nachos" track?

I can't see this trophy, or any trophy, being some sort of trap holder. Why would they build a trap holder into the portal if it wasn't necessary? And they would not have the hole for a trap in the back of the head...it would be too unstable. It also breaks Activision's trend of incorporating old gimmicks, but downplaying the functionality and making it very much optional.

I can see this trophy opening up a kaos racetrack, and I can imagine there will be other trophies out their for sale, opening up additional content. For one thing, they could sell these at $5, which hits that missing price point they had with traps. I just don't see them using the traps as a way of putting in villains as racing partners.

Found a video (CoinOPTV) showing a bit of a 360 degree view of the trophy. There is definitely a hole in the top. Just can't tell if it's just a bowl shape or if a trap can fit in there.

It seems like the normal hole that any trophie has. Could be wrong though.

It looks like a normal trophy cup.

It is likely a hole a normal would have. You could probably put the trap in there, but it would probably do nothing

Since its a Trophy, like a cup, its a cup hole, not a trap hole.

to be fair it seems they're an extra for the action packs. if the price is x amount more than just the figure and car then you'd be perfectly right.

As far as the thread is concerned, I really don't think you are going to be able to place a trap in the trophy. If the portal has a slot for it again and you can use the trapanium portal to do so there would be no reason to do so with the trophy.

This is exactly what I'm angry about. Why can you not use a Kaos trap with Kaos inside to unlock all of this instead of buying another plastic piece? They should be rewarding longtime players for sticking around and for their accomplishments in the past games, not giving them more crap to buy.

The recent post by FamilyGamerTV clearly confirms that villains will indeed be playable, since the Golden Queen's artwork is visible on the packaging.


What we don't know is; How exactly will it work? Will they have different attacks? Possibly.

Look, if they are going to have player vs. player racing, both local and on-line, it makes sense to be able to race as villains in the racing portion of the game. The point of racing is to win and just like Mario Kart, you win Trophies/Cups. I personally think the two trophies we have seen so far look sweet. To me, it makes perfect sense. I do have a ton of traps, but I would want these trophies anyway.

But will you be able to use traps to play?

There is no reason why I couldn't put a Golden Queen trap into the portal and then be able to race as her, other than that it's typical money-grubbing Activision that wants me to continuously buy more than what I should need.

And I thought trap master-only element gates were bad last year, but this is on a whole other level.

It looks like the cups will be usable to unlock "new race tracks" as well as "race as villains", so their functionality extends beyond just playing as villains.

My guess is that the villains will be exclusively playable only in the racing modes. They won't be playable outside of their vehicles, nor will any other characters be able to use their vehicles.


So the best use for these trophies may be in the Wii/3DS racing version, where they might be treated as normal roster characters.
