NOPE, the tree grows pears at a normal pace (and the 12 men all passed by the tree on the same day)

The pear tree is a multidimensional organism that brings pears in from other universes when it runs low.

The currency used by these men is called the Pear, let's label that as P. 1 pear(the fruit) is worth 12P. Each man takes 1P of fruit, this amounts to one whole fruit. Thus, 11 fruits remain on the tree and 12P have been taken.

You wanna know why no one's gonna guess this riddle? You worded the riddle incorrectly, it isn't 'each man took' It is 'Each took' (I capitalize 'Each' because its capitalization is actually integral to getting the correct answer.)
Because you neglected to spellcheck, grammar check, check in general, you have unintentionally destroyed your own topic. I knew there was a reason I couldn't get the answer, and it wasn't my fault, I stared at it for quite awhile, it's impossible to guess the answer with the way you worded it because if you gave the answer it would prove that the sentence structure was grammatically incorrect. Now maybe you'll actually use correct grammar and spelling in the future. >.> Good day to you, sir.

I would have thought that the answer is that there's one person.
If only a single pear has gone, then one person has passed 12 times and taken it.

The tree is a powerful illusion. Each man sees only the tree and what he himself has done to it. When one man takes a pear, every other man still sees a tree with twelve pears. Thus, after each man has taken a pear, the tree still has eleven pears from their perspectives.
Duh. A kindergartener could have gotten this.

Eleven of the men who took a pear put a pear back afterwards. Isn't it obvious?

Because it says each man took "a" pear from the tree. Like, all 12 men just took a singular pear from the tree, so 11 were left. I don't even know.

The answer (sorry I haven't been responding as I was really busy) is that one of the 12 men was named "each man".

It's pronounced
Eechmen. It's British. (I was going to say the 12 only took 1 pear to share.)
