Okay I noticed two things about the PS2 images:

In the first one here I notices that the formation Spyro is staring at resembles a face. Now this is totally in the eye of the beholder but I labeled the pic to justify why I think it looks like a Head.

The Second thing I thought about was who is the little creature in this image? It is facing away from Spyro so either it is helping him fight, and is a new ally, or is running away - the only enemies that run away are fodder. So either it is fodder for Sparx or an ally. Some sites mentioned a character named Skabb (or so it seems) this little creature could be called that, you would think a name like Skabb would imply weakness and the little thing there looks weak. I don't think its a ship rat, too odd of a shape. It isn't being flamed like the other pirate dogs are.

Okay, the most resonable answer is Decroation. Play LoS: ANB and look closely at the floor of Dante's Freezer. Little black things similer to that are jumping around, causing no harm. As in AHT, look at the ground. I think the companie/s who have made these game (Sierra), have a routine of adding such things in.

I don't know, but I agree entirely with CLL. I also noticed them in ANB's Dante's Freezer like CLL said, too. But a ship rat, no, so maybe it's a weiner rat!
