Interesting notes if you don't feel like watching the whole thing
  • The Level shown is Level 12, so there's at least that many.
  • Bowser and DK both have upgrade paths like normal Skylanders
  • Looks like there's 4 different performance mods on each vehicle that you can swap out
  • Levels are "10 times" the size of previous levels.
  • Clouds can be removed to show secret areas
  • There's some sort of roulette machine about 15 minutes in. Looks like you can win a hat, coins, and maybe other stuff.
  • Figures store both Skylanders data AND Amiibo data at the same time (ie, it'll save your stuff from Smash Bros and Skylanders)
  • The game engine "Alchemy" allows them to try out in real time attacks and stuff for characters. First time they've ever shown footage off of it.
  • Everyone at Nintendo pretty much loved the game.

Oh, its not a new engine, its the one they always use.
Basically they made a blank "Playground" sort of area which allows them to test out character moves and tweak them before they go into the game. In this case, they show off some of the old Bowser test runs; one where a Warp Pipe appears and sends the Koopa Shells out, and another where Bowser is able to summon nearly 10 of them.

From what I understood there are fewer chapters but they are a lot bigger and have 4 checkpoints inside them.

This makes me think the game may suffer from SWAP Forces's lack of level uniqueness.

Of course they had to change the chapter system because it totally didn't worked in the previous games...

Vehicles can cover a lot of ground in a very short time. 10x is probably measuring area, not time.

The way my wife and I pace ourselves with each game (to make sure we have all of the figures, etc. before completing it), that's about the timetable I look at yearly, lol!

I think they meant bigger as in, actual physical size as opposed to time length. They were saying the vehicle sections were much more vast than previous sections.

Wow, it's nice to see an actual test level.

Looks like there'll be a placeholder variant of Bowser in the game data if they don't decide to remove that.

This also confirms that Greebles will almost definitely be returning, unless they decided to keep them in the coding just for debug purpose.

It's sad to see that Thwomps were cut from the game, though.

Increasing level size is a great way to reduce variety and re-use assets more, thus keeping development time and costs down. I wasn't a fan of the length of the Swap Force levels even though I preferred that game overall.

TT Adventure Packs(specifically Sunscraper Spire/Midnight Museum) and Lair of the Golden Queen were the right size, I think. Not too small to end just as the fun starts *glares at the other two APs*, not too long to be full of filler and drag on.

Also, adding in from the 30 minute gameplay from FamilyGamer,the random treasure chest can also grant Soul Gems in the RNG. Considering it gave an otherwise exclusive hat, I wonder if it'll also have a chance of unlocking older figures and you'd have to go through them all over again if you reset a figure.

And Greebles might return(and as said before they work in story since they're ordered from Minions Monthly), but the Cloud Breather Dragon level actually seems to hint they're not alone - there are some rabbit-human things with similar tatoos to Kaos, which definately act similar.

(*looks back at gameplay* also they didn't even attempt to have Bowser fit the vehicle, he seems to just shrink and grow as he leaves and enters the cockpit,even in modding menu)

It would be cool if we could use the debug mode. You know just have small themed areas, that are just large enough to explore to place enemies on and build levels. Also, being able go tweak character damage output and enemie health/damage output on a character by character basis both in and outside of this mode would be cool.

So big characters are likely to shrink down to enter vehicles...?
Wow... Such effort...

You know, looking again at Bowser and Donkey Kong they REALLY look like they took footage from other Nintendo games and them slapped them on SuperCharger levels and I guess it's fine since they are guest stars.
They aren't Skylanders, no way, they are simply helping defeating Kaos.

Now If only they could put such excitement, creativity and enthusiasm when creating brand new characters, that would be great. smilie

Agreed,Drek. Bowser's gameplay looks so good, but it won't make me buy him since exclusive to a single brand. Now,if we had a normal character with such great control over their assists... Fiesta and SB just pale in comparison to how well Bowser can manage the koopas.

Like... REALLY!

I was looking at him and thought "Good Eon, that's AMAZING! Versatile, creative, fun! The animations are fluid, and the effects are amazing (that fire... *_*)".
Too bad I will never buy him, and frankly, don't care that much.

Hoping for such deep gameplays for Nightfall or "Splat".

Considering there are vehicles which travel at high speeds, I'm not worried at all about the 10 times larger levels. Much of the vehicle areas will be high speed flybys or racebys without the complexity and exploration area we expect in a normal level as we have been accustomed to...this is still a kids game.

I like the long levels
Though they got boring when getting 3 stars on them
But when I got giants i completed story in Aprox 12 hours
And it sucks when the game is over
But eh

It was a annoying re playing swap force levels for collectibles. If the levels are large I hope they at least let us choose which check point to start from when replaying.
