Which version of the game do you wish to purchase? The all-physical starter pack with a new portal, or the digital version with Instant Spitfire and Hot Streak?

I would say the Starter Pack is the way to go. It may be the expensive path, but it's totally worth getting if I want the Spitfire, Hot Streak, and Stealth Elf figures. I could use Stealth Elf in previous games and Spitfire if there was ever a Skylanders 6. I doubt they will appear in single packs like most of the other starter pack figures.

Starter Pack.
I always prefer to have a physical copy of a game with a case instead of a digital.
And to of course have physical figurines.

If the game really is up to its promises,digital but get just Spitfire and whoever else I'll want. No need for gross import taxes that will double the already expensive price for me,and with a Traptanium Portal no need to waste space or risk dropping a figure.

If it's not that good, I'll probably just get the cd and whatever land vehicle looks best much,much later.

Physical. I am not into dlc.

Physical, even though I already have every other game in the franchise. I hate digital games.

Was gonna do Portal Owner's, but then I found out it was digital only and now I'm going physical.

While I have been embracing digital gaming more with the new consoles, I'll always still to physical starter packs in Skylanders.

Ditto, because I am pretty sure I'll replay my Skylanders games when support for the Xbox 360 has stopped. I fear my 360 will die and then I'm stuck with a bunch of digital content that I cannot get back. So I always get physical copies.

Well, that's what USBs(flash drives? I'm not familiar with how to talk about this in english and everyone in Brazil uses USBs) are for, if you save them in Cloud there's probably a chance it'll be lost once MS decides to kill the console.

Digital is stupid. It ruins the 'toys to life' with two characters built-in.

Plus in Sky 6, you probably wouldn't be able to use the Digital Character from SuperChargers

I doubt the digital version is going to be cheap enough to out weigh the starter pack. Also, I'm not sure if they will do the starter pack toys individually.

Wii hasn't been dropped so I don't think 360 will drop anytime soon.

Depends on how big the price difference is. If there's enough of a difference that I can buy a Supercharger and its vehicle separately and break even, I'll get the digital version. Otherwise, physical.

Always disc copy. I would have gotten the portal owners if it was like Giants but never digital. When I find out what's the difference with the wii game and decide to get or not then I will say probably if I get the wii game I'll get the digital regular version for the wii u.

Totally agree, digital and Toys-to-Life games do not mix. If you have digital versions of characters, it entirely defeats the purpose of this concept.

Never really liked Skylanders Universe and the "free" Disney Infinity PC game

It's just two toys guys, it's enough to beat the game but if you're getting digital you're probably saving for other figures. Even if it didn't have Instants I'd probably just get a land vehicle that looks better.

I am curious about the digital version w/r/t pricing. I'll be buying the physical version, no doubt - but if the buy-in for the digital download is cheap enough, I might grab it.

In Australia the price of the digital version will likely exceed the physical version. So it will be physical for me.

And for me it'll be the opposite,since the franchise is not in Brazil anymore. Either get triple the price from some of the importers on the local Ebay equivalent, or pay import tax no matter from who I buy it from in the US, or get digital for the pack's real price or just a bit below.

I say let us download the game with no digitals for $39.95 or so and I'd be happy. I'm tired of needing disks when I play (what's the read speed of a bluray compared to the hard disk?) Even if most of it is installed locally, I'd prefer no disk--one less thing to worry about.

Was gonna get it, but I wanted figures to put in my collection shelf.

i will just say this, the skylanders as a product is all about being physical. if you remove the experience of human contact to the product. skylanders will ceases to exist as a game franchise. just think if ssa was only digital in 2011 and the game was $60, then had to buy every figurine digital for $10. you wouldn't even looked at the game... also digital you never own, you only rent.

^this. My husband is excited to do the Lego Dimensions game and I've had a good few years of skylanders so I was hoping I could do Superchargers cheaply with a portal owner's pack. But I don't like the idea of strictly digital. I guess if the price gets low enough I will still consider it, but we play on multiple PS3 consoles so I think I'd still rather have the disc.

I usually go with physical copies of games, specially with Skylanders, where the link between physical and digital is important. However, give that I'm not interested in vehicles and that I already own a few portals, I think I may go with the digital this time around (hoping for a 40 euros price).

Because it's only two figures? It's not the end of the world and all physical gaming if someone dares to get two Instants. You're not getting much out of the game without more figures which will have to be physical,anyway.

Figures are awesome, as well as the vehicle.
Even though I'm impartial to the new portal, I would rather have the figures in my hand than some lame digital versions with, God knows, what kind of problems they might have

Physical. Spitfire is one of the ones I want from this game so glad he's in the starter pack. I also prefer physcial copies. Starter pack isn't going to set me back to much since I want much less characters from this game compared to trap team and I can use my new trap team characters.

The game would probably eat up too much space on my PS4 (which is already a bit cluttered) and I wouldn't get the awesome Spitfire's toy.

I also doubt he and Hot Streak will be released separately as technically all the versions will have them, one way or another.
Not that much doubts regarding Super Shot Stealth Elf, because no way they wouldn't try and sell her in any possible way...

All depends on the price, I would prefer digital to be honest purely for loading convenience.

Worried the digital wont work in the future for whatever reason? Pick up a used disk of eBay for 1/10th the price in a year.

Worried you won't get the figures? I have 2 or 3 of some. I bought Trap team for a couple formats and got the same bloody figures in every one. So I am not worried that getting the WiiU download version will mean I don't have the figures, I will just get them with the tablet verison or the 3DS version etc.

That or pick them up cheap on eBay when somebody else has 3 of each.

I have not seen a compelling argument against digital yet, however the convenience far outweighs the disk version.

Might be incorrect,but Instant Spitfire and Hot Streak are on all digital versions. Only them however,the bare minimum to get through the game,but you can use any portal on those versions. Again, things might be just incorrectly worded.

Thoughts from another thread:

Personally it's ALWAYS been in our best interest to buy the starter in terms of value. I believe the Super Chargers are $12.99 and the vehicles are $14.99 (I might have that backwards) as indicated but Lou from Acti. So at two Super Chargers and a vehicle we have $40.97 in toys. Now unless the digital game is only $34.02 I don't see the point, and that's just to break even.

Basically the digital would need to be around $29.99 for me to even consider it.

Digital, i don't feel like getting another new portal again, and the portal is ugly.
I'm not a fan of the starterpack characters and i don't really want to collect cars.

Ditto this, although I really like Spitfire's figure. I can deal with a digital version though.

Considering some people are looking to buy 3 versions of the games, I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be super easy and cheap to find used Spitfires.

At least 1 physical and the rest digital. I do want the figures but not multiple copies of figures. PS4 and Xbox One take up space on the hard drive regardless of how you get them. I'd rather not have to deal with discs.

I thought Jet-Vac's regular figure came out with the last wave

Definitely physical. I want the figures. I would buy the digital for another platform if I already had the physical disc for another. I did that for DI 2.0. Physical on PS3, on sale digital on PS4.
