Would early release of characters figures build hype?

If they released individual character figures for the game before it came out, ie special releases for target, walmart, gamestop etc, do you think it would increase hype and sales? They could release a demo level as dlc for consoles or the ipad for the new characters to be played or maybe instant characters like snap shot and food fight could be done. Reposes for the next game could be sold in the summer to use on the old games. Would you buy characters even if they couldn't be used now?

Sadly Yes... You would have to. People will buy them all and list them on ebay for 1000s of dollars just to make a quick buck.
