Why is everyone saying it doesn't exist?

Probably because it didn't pop up at all during the Amazon leak. I could be recalling incorrectly, but I think the random Italian (?) inventory system photo that someone leaked shows a Wii version, but Amazon didn't when they briefly messed up and put all of the SuperChargers listings online. That's my guess, anyway. Other than that, it's wishful thinking seeing as the excuse as to why we didn't get any patches (even for bug fixes) for SSA, etc., is due to the fact that the Wii can't accept patches and all platforms were meant to be on the same footing. I know some folks want the Wii to keep getting versions, but I'm in the "Die Wii, Die" camp due to the fact that we mostly get complaints from Wii players regarding missing content (that the Wii can't handle) and bugs galore (due to coding the Wii can't handle).

It DID pop up in the amazon listing. It just said that the Wii and 3DS versions would differ in some way from the other consoles.

Personally, I am thrilled that they made a Wii version. For quite some time now, I have had to read about how the Wii was holding everything else back and how terrible a version it is. I actually suggested this very solution in another thread a while back and am happy to be "right". A slightly different version of the game will allow me to decide to continue the series or not based on where my family is with playing it rather than wrestling with the decision to buy an upgraded system to allow us to play one game. I have also noticed in other threads on this very board, that many owners of other systems are now considering getting the Wii version too. Seems like all the problems got solved and it wouldn't surprise me to see the Wii version topping the sales list. Enjoy whatever version you can and whatever you do, have fun!

I did the same Amazon search that the original forum user (whose name escapes me right now) did the night they let everybody know about this, and no Wii version came up. Just PS3/PS4/Wii U/3DS. There might have been a blurb in the Wii U/3DS listings (which I didn't click on) stating "The Wii and 3DS versions will be different," but I can assure you that at the time the original post went up, there wasn't a separate Wii listing. I've got a screenshot of all the listings that came up when the "skylanders superchargers" search was still valid on Amazon (before they realized their goof and pulled the pages) and screenshots of the PS3 and PS4 listings (the PS3 because that's what link was posted here and the PS4 because I'm also interested in picking up that version), none of which show a separate Wii listing. I think it's odd that you're quick to defend the Wii being included but not curious as to the fact that there weren't listings for the XBox 360 or XBox One, both of which we can be near-100% certain will be getting a release. If those systems aren't mentioned and there's no reference to them in any of the other listings, does that mean Microsoft is sitting this one out? I highly doubt it. -Doug

I can say, there was a Wii listing (along with the comment about the Wii/3DS versions in both the Wii and 3DS listings) when I went and looked.

I can see them making a Wii version, but really think they should let it go at this point. Nintendo probably wants them to do that as well so it pushes more people to the WiiU.
The no XB versions is an obvious error. If it was going exclusive it would be going to Nintendo OR Sony, not both. |

I would equally defend the XBox versions but that isn't what this topic is about.

I wouldn't worry about the XBox versions. They tend to outperform the PlayStation versions, so I don't see them dropping PS support.

@darkchylde28 I saw it too. There defiantly is a Wii version this year, but it will differ from the other versions.

The previous post to mine mentioned the lack of an XBox version being strange. Lighten up, Mr. Thread Police. Quote: undeadmaster
I certainly hope it differs. I would hate for the feature set of a current generation console game being determined by a console that was under-powered ten years ago. I like the Wii and all, but come on. |

That would be awesome if that meant real Skylanders on the 3DS - might be worth getting. If it means the 3DS game on the Wii, then umm, no. |

I thought all devs have since moved on from the Wii? I'm surprised to hear that the new Skylanders game could turn up on it, especially given the franchise's sketchy stability on that platform.

I don't understand why all users here, are surprised about a Wii Version? All Skylanders games including Trap Team, sold best on the Wii. It's not a surprising for me that Activision decided to make a Wii version again.

Yes the Wii is dead but you see it has enough potential buyers for a Skylanders game. Activision would be stupid to miss the extra money for a Wii version.

I'm curious as to what is included in the Wii starter pack. I'd love to get the game for it since it will be different, but not so if its the same as what is in the other starter packs.

I'm confident the Wii will simply don't have checkpoints (if they are returning) and whatever online features the other versions will have.
No new content whatsoever. The reason why they are saying it is because they don't want to disappoint people like the did with SWAP Force's Wii version.

While it won't happen, the Wii's "online" isn't "shut down" - merely, the unified servers that Nintendo ran and required all on-line Wii games to use were shut down. Activision *could*, in theory, set up independent Wii/SuperChargers servers for online play, but it ain't gonna happen.

I was really hoping they stop making more Wii versions ever since the Wii U was created.

Just for the record, the interview with Guha confirms that the Wii version would be a "comparable" experience. I read that as the Wii version won't have many of the features and in fact may be a different game altogether. Anyone buying the Wii version expecting a copy and paste of the big gun consoles will be disappointed. Still, I'm glad that they made the right development decision not to let the Wii hold back the other systems, and satisfy very steadfast Wii owners.
I wouldn't be surprised if Wii matches or is slightly undersold the Xbox versions. I expect next gen consoles to continue making up ground. |
