All rap after 2003 is utter crap.

I can't tell the difference between Kanye, Future, Migos, 2 Chainz, Young Thug and whoever else because THEY ALL SOUND THE SAME.

Back in the 90s, rap had so much individuality; Tupac didn't sound like Biggie, Biggie didn't sound like NWA, NWA didn't sound like Cypress Hill, Cypress Hill didn't sound like Eminem (this was back in his golden days) and so on. And really, the whole foundation of rap was an attempt to be different from the norm (like grunge and post grunge alternative :D ). But now that it's become the norm, it's just another dull, spiritless genre that's been sapped of all creativity, just like rock in the 80s.

In short: No, I do not listen to modern rap, but I love old school rap.

I grew up listening to R&B and Rap because that's what my parents like (Classic and modern) so there are some artists that I've grown to like. For the most part though, I don't really choose to listen to that kind of stuff. Usher, Jason Derulo, Justin Timberlake and Patrick Stump's solo stuff are really the only R&B I listen to (I discovered Derulo and Stump myself) I can't really get into rap because I prefer singing.

I don't like how people are generalizing rap to what they here now on the popular charts.
-

clipping is a rap artist that uses harsh noise beats and unnerving sounds along with extremely well written songs that make each album an adventure. Story 2 has got to be one of the best worked and written songs along with Inside Out.

MF Doom is a rapper that uses samples from old comic hero shows and other hanna-barbara stuff. It's so unique and most of his raps are toned down and slow. They sound like the opposite of trap rap.

And Run The Jewels is a rap group you should listen to if you want to rag on the government. They have block party like raps with so much unique sounds you'll feel energy literally flowing through your blood.

Honestly, yes.

It started out good, but towards the end of the decade, it wasn't about music anymore; it was about having an "image," setting social trends, and above all else, making money. It was a cultural norm and thus became a bland, corporate machine. Then in the 90s, Kurt Cobain came along and overthrew that evil empire, thank god.

But that's neither here nor there; rap and hip-hop are befalling the same fate right now. That's why it sucks.
