This clears up a lot.

They are handling this way better than amiibo that's for sure.

What I read was, "If you didn't shell out the $100 for the Dark Starter Pack, you missed the easiest way to get a Kaos trap. We could have made sure there was 3-4 Kaos Traps available for every 5 non-Dark Starter Pack we made, but where's the fun in keeping up with demand? I think we barely made enough Water Traps though."

I got lucky. I went to my local Best Buy for a ground and undead trap, and before I even made it to the Toys to Life isle I found a lonely Kaos trap just hanging there. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, I grabbed it as well. About the character itself, I have mixed feelings. He IS fun to play as, but he also makes the game really easy, since he is the definition of overpowered. Still...

At least they recognize and admit their stock problems. Nintendo always finds a way to weasel their way out of the subject when asked about amiibo stock. All they tell me when I email them is to "try looking harder." Bravo skylanders, you know perfectly well how to deal with the demand.

A few days after the launch of wave 4, I saw a bunch of the triple packs with the Kaos trap at TRU and 25+ of the single Kaos traps at my local Best Buy. 2 weeks later, all of them were gone and I haven't seen any since...perhaps it was a one time restock?

Probably not. The time that I picked up mine was actually just a few weeks ago, so they are probably still stocking them, just not a lot.

i dont think they sold as many dark starter packs as they expected considering it had the kaos trap.
I actually wouldve got a dark pack if the characters werent all "darkified". Even though it came with a fire trap master and the kaos trap , it just wasnt worth it for me.

i know alot of people are in the same boat that try to avoid variants.

People try to avoid variants ? I love going after variants first.

I must admit i would rather want a green Food Fight instead of a dark one . Still thinking about a dark or normal starter pack . I wish they gave us another colour instead of black . Dark Pack was a nice idea for Swop force.

I personally avoid variants like a plague.

They don't look "original" to me.
Only buy the brand new characters for each game (no Lightcores or Reposes either).

Well i think Nitro Krypt King looks far more original then Normal Krypt King who looks like a legendary .

For me at least, the problem arises with having variants and regular figures and those being exclusive. I personally like the Dark colored ones, but because I'm a collector, I'd have to get a regular copy of the game (for the regular characters) and the dark edition (for the dark versions). If it was possible to buy one of the two separately, i'd have sprung for one or the other, but it just wasn't worth it to me and the headaches involved. Spyro I think was different at least for me, since everyone got the regular Spyro in the starter pack, and the Dark Spyro was exclusive to the 3DS version. So it's at least two separate versions of the game instead of buying multiples of the exact same one.

I kind of hope they didn't sell well in a way, since I think having special bundles is a dumb idea unless they're for different systems.

Krypt King is black, white AND golden.

Nitro Krypt King looks like a licorice skeleton inside a solid gold armor with awkward racing-themed designs that totally don't fit his egyptian/undead design.
It's only a personal opinion but I will never find a variant to be better than the original.
Just something I can't get over.

You can't seriously tell me that Polar Whirlwind or Jade Flashwing doesn't look just as good, if not even better than their original counterparts. Legendaries are a big hit or miss. Some Skylanders look awesome in that coloring, like Bouncer, but others are a flop. The nitro variant straying from its theme in Trap Team is a bit strange too, though I do like Nitro Kyrpt King decently enough, minus the stupid racing stripes, and I personally prefer the nitro colors of Headrush over her normal ones.

I was randomly in a local toy-store when I saw two Kaos Traps left. I got them both, one for my boyfriend and one for myself. Ever since then I havn't seen them anymore around here.

Sure they might look cool too but they will never look better than the original to me.
No problem if you like them, they are indeed as good as the original in a certain way.

But they are not my thing.
