Very interesting video exploring WHY we may like skylanders. Unresolved toilet training, or because it fulfills our need to collect or because we love adorable things? Why do YOU love skylanders?

Because it is based off Disney Infinity (teehee)

Because I LOVE playing as different crazy creatures each with a unique playstyle, while exploring an awesome fantasy world.

Because I like how they copied the two greatest things of all time: Disney Infinity and Amiibo.

It was pretty cool how they just stole 2 original franchises and acted like they didn't care.

Interesting.

They stole so much from Infinity that they even placed some Skylanders figures inside the developer's offices (as you can see in one of Infinity's official development videos), packed with micro cameras to be able to spy them.

Sounds like a time paradox to me.

My name is fhoenix and i am a Skylander addict . Its been 12 hours since i last examined my recent Skylander toys . Its been 1 hour since i last considered who next to add to my Collection .

Yes, Iganagor is a failed ''troll''.

I like it because it's a well thought out fantasy world with a diverse cast and the games are a ton of fun - above graphics or gameplay.It also has an example of DLC which won't just disappear once the game is done and gone,despite costing similar.Having Spyro,Cynder and awesome might/well written Malefor is a plus,too.

I adore the concept of multiple characters each with it's unique skills. Sort of a superhero team. The fact you can also collect the figures adds more to their charisma, despite having to spend more money on it.

This concept is a magical blend of toy collecting and playing video games .

The amount of ego feeding and subtle poking you to buy ..... just one more skylander is downright criminal . Of course you have to take a little bite first before it hooks you.

I recall a time when i was looking at these goofy things with an objective and uncaring mind . I thought the designs were stupid and childish and the hardware concept alien . I did not care for Prism Break or Eruptors lack of thumbs and trigger happy having no feet . Lightning Rod being a torso on a cloud .....
These things were in my face in every toyshop and supermarket .

It keeps me from feeling bored at times.

I mainly enjoy collecting the toys, and seeing them come to life in a video game is pretty rad. It's almost like reconnecting with a lost part of my childhood. Also Spyro.

I enjoy having toys based off memories with skylanders I can make those memories now and look back on them in the future.

I like the character designs/figures.

If the characters were digital-only, they just wouldn't have that extra appeal.

I have honestly no idea. Although, technically, I'm on a Skylander-hunting hold until I find Bumble Blast, Rubble Rouser, and my Kaos Trap which I lost somewhere.

Heres a good reason . Its different . I never experienced a figure with a chip in it being placed on a scanner to bring it to "life" on the video game . Usually my toys and games are separate entities .

He keeps talking about how we like them because they are adorable, but I prefer mine look awesome. Don't get me wrong I find Food Fight absolutely adorable but I would buy Knightlight over Spry if given the option.

I think he was correlating the fact that as a species, our babies look "adorable" which translates into a caring and nurturing mindset, and so he's transferring those facts over to the toys. Basically, he was trying to be scientific. I'd go for a "it's just do darn cool and awesome" as well.

...wait, you all actually play with the figures? In the game? Exploring beautiful worlds and saving the day with a bizarre team of super-heroic puppity oddballs? Sounds incredibly entertaining. Didn't Disney and Nintendo already do this, though, like, a long time ago?

Did no one else collect them just to hear the songs they come up with at night when they think you're asleep??

Toy Story wasn't as heroic fantasy and the World of Trophies of Smash Bros. has a little too much senseless violence,so they didn't exactly do the same.

I want to live in this fantasy world of yours where every good franchise is released bug free. I'm the one that's baffled that you keep finding reasons to dislike the franchise in a thread about why we like it.

Hey they make 3 billion and ppl buy it with bugs, what incentive do they have to waste more time on fixing those bugs if ppl will just buy it anyways.

By that logic every game should suck massively. Before you guys assume dumb things about game development, try finding a game with zero bugs ON RELEASE,with no delays on development. Sure, that doesn't justify Skylanders not having any patches, but just try telling a dev that he's being the worse thing ever because he couldn't release a game without bugs. In fact,try coding the simplest of games and not running into bugs only way later down the road.

you have a good point there, until people start smarten up and demand quality, this will just continue i guess.

No,not a good point because it disregards most stuff about game development. For both of you.
