Disney Infinity - what's required to buy to get the most out of it? [CLOSED]

Probably not the best place to ask this, but honestly, after about ~1 hours I'd spent searching the net, I've found no real answer for my quiestion. I'm thinking about getting into the franchise, and I was thinking about getting the starter pack (1.0) and the 3 (?) additiona play sets, and then a handful of figures I really like. My question is, what else do I need for example to complete the play set adventures? I've read somewhere that you need 2 of the Incredibles figures to complete the Incredible playset, so I'm thinking about stuff like that. I know that power discs unlock stuff in Toy Box mode (or give you some boost), but I really don't mind that much if I miss things like that.

So in Skylanders SA you need 8 figures of the 8 elements, plus the 4 adventure packs. (And then you miss some heroics, but whatever) I'd like to get a similar answer about how does it work in DI.

Could you explain why not? I have no intention to invest heavy amounts of money in this franchise (1.0 is getting pretty cheap where I live), I just really like some of the figures, but can't get myself to buy them if I can't use them in an actual game. I'm just really curious what are the bare minimum to complete levels and enjoy Toy Box, if I don't need that much fancy stuff given by the power discs. (I don't even want to buy the starter if it turns out I need a bunch of guys/discs I don't like at all, just to get along.)

Not buying it would probably be the best choice.

The main focus of the game is ToyBox. Though I have not played the game personally, from every description and review I've seen of the game, the story levels are quite repetitive and bland with each character only capable of going into their own story and the toybox mode with some characters ONLY able to go into ToyBox. Each character is given so many chances to earn pieces for ToyBox with ability to gain more from the story modes. Then there's the power discs only sold in blind packs to get more parts. To get enough pieces to build anything worthwhile or even to get all of the pieces you would desire would cost a good amount of money whether through trying from blind packs or buying online for the disks or buying pretty much everyone for each series to get all of the parts from their given series.

If you are fine with having only a couple of characters, very few parts (with no specific parts desired) for ToyBox mode, and are not interested in playing out any kind of actual storyline, then go for it. Otherwise the game is truly not worth your money and you will end up having to spend more than you want to.
