Obviously this is an opinions thread, if you disagree with anyone have an actual conversation about it.
This is the thread to talk about those things in video games that everyone else seems to hate with a passion that you just don't understand.
Ice physics. I really don't understand why so many people have trouble with them. It takes like five seconds to get reused to the slightly different controls, and then all you have to do is think a little bit in the future so that you don't slide right into something. I just don't think that they are difficult at all.
Plus, ice levels have really nice music ♪♫♪

Visual spectacles. I know graphics don't mean everything but sometimes they should mean a lot. I would rather play Deus Ex: Human Revolution over the likes of Chrono Trigger or the original Deus Ex.

Health Regen.
I prefer the system that goes by "Time heals everything" rather than the magical box that fixes everything. I mean this in games that try to stick to a realistic setting. Games that don't aim for realism, they usually have something logical for that world. While this doesn't have that much hate, when it gets it, it's by people that see themselves as hardcore gamers. Seems silly, I guess. |

Quick-time events.
I hear a fair amount of complaints about this, but I personally don't mind, provided there's a good reason, not just spontaneously tossing it at you.

The muted-hero
I normally don't have a problem with it and in fact prefer this. I accept that the hero is meant to be me, and i don't want the hero saying or really doing anything that I just simply wouldn't choose to do. I agree with that i'd prefer just letting me select what my character says over the muted hero but I know they can't always do this. With all the complaints they get, people loved Crono and Link. But I did run into ONE game that did test my limits for some reason about this trope... Dragon Ball Xenoverse honestly. Because unlike RPG's or even the Zelda games you didn't really have anyone standing around to bounce back a conversation for you making you feel like you were somewhat responding. |

That's all Dragon's Lair was, those types of games invented QTEs. Still love it too. |

Water levels. There are a few bad eggs, but I've played more good ones than bad ones. I find them to often be one of the most peaceful and immersive types of levels too.

Inverted controls.
Yeah, it can be a little confusing, but overall it makes certain gameplay aspects much smoother.
