Abandoning MegaMan and Onimusha, rebooting Japanese games into western games, on-disc DLC, re-releases (obviously) that screw over early vanilla edition-adopters, no longer able to use the Marvel license, overbloated development of Resident Evil 6, unrealistic sales expectations, etc. The only thing that might've been okay and consistent is Monster Hunter but what do I know.
For this generation so far, Capcom seemed to have screwed up on the mobile market, Sony is financing Street Fighter V, Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition is coming to the west digital-only, Deep Down is nowhere to be seen and then there's now rumours going on about Resident Evil 7 coming out this year.
Anyone reading, I want your thoughts on what Resident Evil 7 will be like but let's take into consideration that this is being made by Capcom. The ones who made Resident Evil 6 what it is and thought it would sell Call of Duty-numbers. Let tell you my predictions:
- A big open world or sandbox, obviously in a big city. New York, London, Tokyo, Paris, just anything obvious.
- Albert Wesker comes back to life as a clone.
- Chris and Jill, Leon and Claire, Jake and Sherry, and of course Ada, all come back. Maybe throw in Barry and Rebecca as well.
- Or Alice from the Resident Evil movies, voiced by Millia Jovovich. will finally appear as the protagonist, depending on Capcom's desperation.
- Co-op mode will probably support 2-4 players.
- Prettier graphics with more detail and gloss.
- Zombies become giant octopuses, dragons or dinosaurs.
- More EXPLOSIONS!
- Microtransactions.
- Developers saying the word "cinematic" in interviews and previews.
- Estimate sales expectations to be 10 million copies worldwide.
Wasn't that a fun prediction list? It's like imaging what the next Michael Bay movie will be like.
It's amazing to see how Capcom is digging itself deeper into the hole it started since 2009.
