lol yeah Skydad, I saw that and lol'd when people kept speculating even thought you told them. I also lol'd (HARD) when you posted that thinking how Activision keeps touting that they have the #1 selling figure line and they aren't doing anything at the largest North American Toy show lol...cracks me up. Will you be breaking any Star Wars Infinity news on FGTeeV if it comes up?

Well, Activision not being there to promote Skylanders' games items wouldn't have automatically meant that there isn't any ToyFair exclusive figure, but, ok...

Oh, and, maybe Infinity should start creating some personal events like Skylanders seems to be doing, so the attention will be directed exclusively on them. Just and idea.

And, last, but not least, I would really LOL if Infinity 3.0 turns out to have NOTHING to do with Star Wars, since everyone seems to take it for granted, when there hasn't been any official confirm, and only a few ambiguous hints, and some Star Wars related items in the Toy Box, because, you know, they own the franchise. smilie

Also the next Star Wars movie is only gonna be released literally just days before Xmas if they're lucky and there's no hold ups, but it'll probably be after Xmas.
that late movie release isn't the best position for advertising a Star Wars themed game for Xmas . infinite do rely a lot on movies to advertise to kids. And they need kids to know wat Star Wars is before Christmas so they can ask Their parents to get it for them.

I feel that they are breaking away from events such as toy fair and e3 to reveal the game as the spotlight is shared between skylanders and 100s of other brands, however if they reveal the game in, say, April game journalists will be covering skylanders only as there is nothing else there to steal the spotlight.

Exactly.

As a fan, I'm sad and a bit disappointed that they won't be there, but I absolutely understand the decision.

YouTubers, reviewers and bloggers will talk only about Skylanders, and not about, let's say, Amiibos or Infinity.

Well, with the recent cartoon series, comics and even games (yes, Agry Birds Star Wars is included), and with the already exsistent worldwide fame, I think kids know the franchise, more or less. smilie

My only hope if Disney DOES do Star Wars they do a Classic line too. Or even a Princess line that could include their first "reposes" of Rapunzel (short hair), Elsa (Fever or coronation) and Anna (anything but her last outfit).

If DI3 doesn't do somthing for the classic fans; the people that...you know...like actual Disney movies...it's not going to go far either.

Agree that if Disney doesn't change up DI 3.0, adding Star Wars isn't going to hurt Skylanders all that much. Yes, you probably will get some Star Wars collectors (maybe, there is already a ton of Star Wars merchandise), but few of those collectors are also Skylanders collectors who will decide to drop S5. I personally and I'm not convinced that they will definitely do star wars. Probably, but not for sure. I am more convinced that we will see Disney Originals. We'll see Cinderella and Goofy I'd bet, plus whatever other kid movie is coming out this year. I also think we'll see some new marvels, Antman, maybe wasp, and the added Avenger figures.

If I had to guess, there won't be a 2nd Avenger place set. They would have to include 2.0 figures, which isn't going to sell 3.0 figures. Not sure Antman is big enough for his own playset (no pun intended) It does make it seems like they will go Star Wars for play sets. It just feels messy. Do they go with the old or young version of the characters? Do they pull for the cartoon universe? Can they pull from both and have it be remotely plausible? Personally, I'd prefer if they left Star Wars out, and maybe make a separate TTL line just for those characters...more of an adventure game then a open world like DI.

Edit: And regarding Act's ego, corporations don't have egos. They make business decisions on what management believes will bring in the most money for their stock holders. It may appear like ego sometimes, but the motivation is always money, not ego. The reason they are not TF isn't because they think they are better then the other toys, DI, or what have you. They just don't think being their is the best decision for them business wise.

Idk but they will probably Marvel wise go with Scarlet Witch, and Quick Silver, since they are in Age of Ultron. They may also make a Daredevil figure as he is getting a tv show in April, but again idk.

This area is where I feel Disney infinite has a bit of a struggle. Disney is a little limited by having to use old characters plus anything new they produce recently. And they need to do both each game to encourage collecting figures in different demographics.

Star Wars is a great franchise , but you would leave the Disney princess crowd or the Pixar crowd disappointed by focusing on star wars too much.
Disney infinites biggest issues is that they can appeal to a lot of different people and that's the whole purpose of the game. if they ever focus too much on one thing they are going to alienate large amounts of fans. They're kinda trapped in their own game design.

Also when they start doing reposes, I think infinite will hav reached its peak.

Yes, Disney's big base of already exsisting characters is both a pro and a con.

They have more than 1000 unique characters, and hundreds more to come... But that's about it.

They could still acquire new franchises, but I doubt they would do it as as fast as TfB and V.V. can come up with new, original and creative never seen before Skylanders that immediately become popular, in most of the cases, every year.

I probably won't even get DI3.0 unless they do something really different from the last two games. Or if they put in either Goofy or Kuzco.

Ok, this whole thing might be quite offtopic but it's certainly more interesting than the non-existent skylanders appearence at toy fair 15.

Personally, I think that it is far more interesting what Disney Infinity 4.0 will be about. Star Wars for 3.0 is a very very safe bet and I wouldn't be surprised if they were announcing it on May 4th, you know, "Star Wars Day". And to be honest, I expect the same lame and boring gameplay with just the same empty playsets without any interesting stories or adventures. I own both Infinity titles and in my opinion the second one is even worse. The toybox is a cool feature but 3 empty playsets are just not enough if you don't want to build your own game. I'd love classic disney playsets with nice little storys with and about my childhood heroes and favorite disney characters. Instead all I get are empty grey and lifeless cities with boring repetitive missions. They even failed to deliver a baymax playset which would fit in quite nicely considering it is a superhero disney movie set in an awesome fictional city (San Fransokyo).

I like the figures, I like the toybox, I like the collector's edition but I'm extremely disappointed of the lack of approvements in Disney Infinity 2.0. In addition I think their plan to give the girls some toybox figures is just not enough. Marvel and Star Wars are both franchises that aime for boys and their approach to serve both genders is poor.

Unfortunately, their conservative plan works, the franchises are so huge and successfull that they don't need a good game and technical or gameplay innovations.

There are two things that I like about DI:

- Online gameplay: Yeah, that feature that most of us have been asking for skylanders for a while now.

- Some Gameplay mechanics: Have you seen how fast and how high the flying characters of DI can go?Well they can make it to the roof of a building on a second, or make it to the other edge of the city in a whisper. The "feeling" of being a truly powered being is more authentic. In skylanders you can only hover a few feet above the ground at a low pace.

About the gender approach, is true that there aren't a lot of females characters, but I think that the key is more on the kind of figure than on its gender. I mean what would happen if they release a few of the fairies featured on the tinkerbell movies?Even if some of these were male fairies (like terence or bubble), they would have a great reception by the female audience, because they belong to a world which may be more appealing to them.

On the other hand DI should learn the obvious lesson from skylanders: a unique world where all the characters could be involved against the same villain would be cool.
