Save the .gif to your computer. As long as its less than 30 KB, you can then upload it from your user settings.

Step 1. Save it to the computer
Step 2. Check the KB size if it's over 30 or 40KB (I'm pretty sure Dark did raise the KB limit to 40)
Step 3. If to large you might have to ask a few users to help you size it down.
Step 4. If your gif image is at the correct size to be an avatar, upload it and save it as your avatar.
Step 5. Enjoy.
