Cloud and Dante are both pretty guys with big swords! Also Dante is a gunner and wears long-red like Vincent.
Okay, joking aside, I feel like I wanna make comparisons between the directions of both Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry, opinions of game journalists and fans alike and how one is a bit hypocritical from the other.
Everyone knows that the old FFs were classics and most people, as in popular internet personalities and websites with large fanbases, despised the games that came out this past decade. Yet when it comes to Devil May Cry, most journalists act as if the series, that redefined action games and acted as the foundation for more games, like Final Fantasy did for RPGs, the ones who previously acknowledged these facts, act as if the Devil May Cry series was never good to begin and DmC was the truly first good one and we're wrong for hating it, even though those who hate XIII get a free-pass.
To me, it's unfair how people miss old school Final Fantasy, but don't get that Devil May Cry fans may feel the same for said series. How critics say XIII sucks but want us all to shut up for feeling the same about DmC.
Let's not forget that both games came from once-loved publishers Capcom and Square-Enix. Yes, I know DmC was made by Ninja Theory but Capcom wanted to change everyone about Devil May Cry like that.
Here's how I see this.
FFIV - DMC1
Mystic Quest - DMC2
FFVI - DMC3
FFX - DMC4
FFXIII - DmC
Obviously I'm not saying the quality of XIII and DmC are the same, but even DmC feels more obsessed with being "cinematic" in a cynical matter over the more technical aspects of the series.
So... "fire" away. He he. Please be nice and don't say words like "overrated" or "fanboy." I want discussions, not yelling and screaming.
