For those of you who remember Evening: A New Legacy, this is part three ((somebody on a different site is making part two of the series))

Chapter 1
Four claws appear. A creature leaps over the tree and lands silently. The creature walks along the grass, leaving no paw prints and making no sound. No sound of splashing is heard as the creature runs across water. In fact, this creature makes no sound at all. Sighing silently, the creature pauses to look at its reflection. Nothing is there but the fuzzy outline of a dragon. The dragon splashes its image soundlessly. It rises to its paws. The dragon is Silver. He is not truly a dragon, but a mere shadow of one, somehow embodied in the solidity of a true dragon, but unable to make a sound. He didn't have the sharp characteristics of a dragon either, they were all blurry, as if they were out of focus. Unfortunately, Silver had no reason to be tortured like this, he was once just a nonexistent shadow, but now he was trapped in the true world of dragons, a world unsafe for a dragon like himself.
He sighed once more and looked up at the shimmering stars. They were the only things he liked about this world. Looking down again he began to pad back towards the forest. This just wasn't the place for a shadow, he wasn't sure about how long he could survive. He hadn't eaten in months, but still, nothing changed, he never got any thinner, and he always looked full-fed. Will I be stuck like this forever? he asked himself, looking once more, to the sky.

Chapter 2
Ember padded down the empty canyon, leaving her brother behind. Nyght is dead. She continued replaying the thought in her mind again and again. Her hatchlings too, were gone. She was alone. She looked up at the starry sky, trying to remember what the world used to be like, but all she could remember was the beast that Nyght had become. He seemed to loose all of his good karma during his final days, becoming a living breathing, dark shadow of evil. Suddenly, her sister Evening appeared at Ember's side. "Come. We must return to the others." Ember looked at her sister with tear-filled eyes. "You must know what happened to Nyght? Surely you do?" Evening shook her head, and Ember wasn't sure if it was to clear her thoughts or to say that she knew nothing. Ember looked at her sister's back. Her wings were lost in Convexity when she returned their mother, Cynder back to the living world. Evening gave Eber a quick lick on the forehead, an assuring gesture in dragonkind. "Just look to the stars and you'll find an answer one day." Evening murmured before turning around and returning to the others. "What is that supposed to mean?" Ember called after her siter, but she gained no reply. Ember let out a long sigh. Nyght, where are you? |

Chapter 3
Flame blinked as he stepped into the sunlight. He felt the warm sandy ground beneath his paws. He could even see again. He smiled to himslef as he thought of what he would do to that wretched dragoness, Evening. It was she who originally trapped him in the land of Convexity with a death blow. He was also going to slay Spyro. That purple dragon had it too good for too long. Flexing his claws he stretched, his back arching into a perfect semicirle. He beat his wings and took off into the air. It had been a while since he could fly, because he had been blind - the workings of Spyro. Flame snarled to himself at the thought, and swerved as he scented cat - prey. He landed on the soft grassy ground of woodland. He opened his mouth tasting the air, it was definately cat - a tribe of them. He followed the scent until he came across a small village with small wooden houses. He watched as several cheetahs walked about the clearing, their ears pricked and alert. Flame silently cursed, it would be impossible to escape with a kill. Suddenly, a cheetah with a bright orange pelt left the clearing. "Be careful Meadow!" Flame turned his head to see a reddish orange cheetah call after him. Meadow turned around and looked at the other cheetah, "I believe I can take care of myself Prowlus." He retorted. Flame smiled. He'd found his meal. |

Chapter 4
"It's for the best Ember!" Ragnar called after his sister as she padded away. He stared angrily after her. She had loved a beast, and that... that... dragon had tried to destroy her. He heard a rustle in the bushes, and he saw his other sister, Evening pad out from behind them. "I'll talk to her." She murmured, trotting after Ember. Ragnar winced as he saw the area where a normal dragon's wings would be. He turned around to leave when his brother Hydro also stepped out from behind the bushes. Hydro had been born in the same clutch of eggs, but he was unsuited for the air, he tended to remain in water instead. "Just give her time Ragnar." Hydro was only trying to reassure Ragnar, but Ragnar simply bared his fangs. "Our sister was in love with a monster. She should have known better." Hydro was about to say something else when Ragnar took off into the night sky, leaving everybody else behind. When Ragnar finally grew exhausted he landed on soft, springy grass and curled up between an old tree's gnarled roots. He would return in the morning after he mulled things over for a bit. He closed his eyes and welcomed sleep with open arms when it came, completely unaware of the approaching danger. Chapter 5 "I'll be back soon Cynder!" Spyro called as he leapt out of the cave and greeted the rushing air as he took off in flight. He turned his head to see Cynder fondly watching him take off. Suddenly, he heard buzzing. Grublins! He thought in surprise. The creatures didn't appear often ever since Malefor died, but when they did, they appeared in a large pack, and could kill even the strongest dragon. He sped forward to see what was going on, only to be greeted by a horrifying scene that stopped him from moving forward.. Everything seemed to stop. Spyro watched in horror as Grublins ganged up on his son, slowly sending him over the edge of the cliff. He watched as the Grublins flew off, snickering to each other as if it was all a joke. "Ragnar!" He finally managed to croak out before diving to his son who didn't seem to hear him as he kept his wings locked as he fell. Spyro winced when he heard a thud, and landed lightly on the ground several yards away. "Ragnar?" He asked before tentatively padding forward. The sight was almost too much for Spyro to bear. Ragnar was sprawled out, eagle-limbed, his eyes wide open, staring into nothing. Spyro let out a gasp on anguish. His son was dead. Spyro curled up next to his son and licked his now cold scales with his forked tongue. Then, he gently used his claws to close his son's eyes. They would never see anything more. Spyro looked up and saw a flash of silver in the trees. He simply thought it was a Grublin, but he was dead wrong. |

Chapter 6
Paragon and Pteryx padded side by side, Paragon's purple blending into her brother's black. The two were quiet when walking together. They hadn't much to share with each other, they already knew everything - they were brother and sister. Suddenly, Pteryx stopped dead, sniffing the air. "Grublins." He growled, claws digging into the earth. "Stop. They'll be in a large group, we can't beat them." Paragon reasoned, trying to stop her brother. Pteryx was no longer listening. He took off, leaving his sister behind. Sighing, Paragon took off and easily caught up to him. When they landed on soft forest ground, she finally managed to speak. "Are you nuts?" She hissed, trying to knock some sense into him. Pteryx only grunted and continued forward. Paragon continued babbling on, trying to get her brother to stop. She was so loud in fact, they didn't hear a thud at the bottom of the canyon. The two did not hear the buzzing on fly-like wings as the Grublins proceeded through the forest, excited about finally destroying a dragon. That's when the Grublins noticed two young dragons walking side by side, easy prey. They attacked. Pteryx was on them immediately, launching Shadow attacks left and right. Paragon, however cowered at her brothers side, frightened by the though of battle. "Don't just stand there, help me!" Pteryx growled, knocking his sister out of her trance. Paragon immediately thought strategy, freezing their enemies with fear. Pteryx shot her a grateful glance as he destroyed many of them with Shadow, their gems drawn to the dragons' bodies. Suddenly, as if by some mutual agreement, the Grublins piled on top of Paragon, silencing her cry of horror. "Paragon!" Pteryx cried in anguish. Suddenly his head began to throb. He could no longer hold off his anger. He stepped into a fury attack stance. He was about to launch a Negative Convexity Fury. |

Chapter 7
Silver heard the unmistakable sound of a Negative Convexity Fury about to strike. He didn't think. He just ran. He had to stop it. It could destroy the world. Silver charged ahead at full speed, and stopped. "I'm too late!" He saw a black dragon, relatively young, rise up into the air, his lower body dangling as he stored power. He also vaguely noticed a purple paw beneath a pile of Grublins. Silver dug his claws into the ground, bracing himself for the attack to come. Suddenly, time seemed to freeze. It did freeze actually. Silver heard pawsteps and turned around. He saw a black dragoness. One that he actually remembered... vaguely. "Evening?" He asked with a tentative tone, he pronounced the name carefully, still unsure. The black dragoness smiled. "I can see that your memory is still in tact. Well, most of it." She grimaced. "Of course. You don't remember your past life at all. Just bits and pieces." Silver cautiously padded up to her, frightened that he was dreaming. "Can't you tell me anything more?" Evening smiled. "Oh no Silver. This is your problem to sort out. I'm already tampering with the fabric of space enough with this visit." Suddenly her eyes grew bleak, as if she were seeing something that wasn't there. Silver shivered when she spoke again. It was as if the voices of other dragons were talking through her. "Silver. Remember that even one ember can spark life in night." She then collapsed, and began to fade. Time slowly began moving as she faded. "Wait! What does that mean?" It was too late, Evening was almost gone. "Please." Silver felt a salty tear trickle down his scales, but he didn't care. He didn't even feel the fury attack when it struck. All he could remember was a numb feeling in his legs as he collapsed from the strength of it. Then he blacked out and he could remember nothing more. |

Chapter 8
Evening jerked awake, panting from the effort. "So he's alive." She murmured. "Who?" Ember asked, and Evening was... surprised by her sudden appearance. Ember tilted her head, "Who is Silver?" Evening turned away. "I cannot tell you." Ember looked away from her sister. "I'm going to go looking for him." Evening looked bewildered by this. "You don't even know what he looks like-" "I'm going to look for Nyght." Evening closed her eyes and looked away. "You won't find him." She murmured, too quiet for Ember to hear. Without another word, the pink dragon took to the sky, leaving her sister behind. Evening hung her head. She knew so many things. Things that Ember wanted to hear. Things that couldn't be told. "Even one ember..." She began, not bothering to finish her prophecy. Evening sighed. She'd forseen Ragnar's death, but did nothing. There were already too many purple dragons. One of them would've died in the end Evening tried to push the voice out of her mind, but it was right. There were four, three now, such a large group of purple dragons could utterly destroy life itself. There are too many anti-dragons as well. Evening immediately shook the thought out of her mind. "No!" She yelled, not caring who heard. "One of them failed to fufill their duty. That is the point of the current one!" You know that as long as one is alive... Evening abruptly stopped thinking. Could the two coexisting anti-dragons cause a problem? She shook her head. It was impossible. Sighing, she decided to fly. Then she remembered that her wings were no longer existent. She sighed then crumpled onto the floor, feeling completely sorry for herself. |

Chapter 9
Meadow stalked off angrily, then paused, sniffing the air. There was the faintest hint of dragon to it. Of course, he remembered the dragons that lived in the canyon not far below, so he relaxed and carried onward, unaware of the impending doom. He neared a large cavern where the best herbs grew, and just as he approached, an orange dragon attacked. Meadow was completely unprepared, but the orange dragon was ready. "Good-bye." He growled. Meadow winced, this dragon's breath smelled of carrion. For a short moment he pitied the creature, then he felt agonizing pain and looked into the eyes of the dragon, horrified. The creature was a true killer, for it was slowly draining his body of blood - life's precious fluid. Suddenly, the dragon perked his head and an arrow just narrowly missed him. "Remember my name..." He hissed in Meadow's ear. "I am Flame." The dragon then leapt off into the haven of the forest. "Meadow!" An all too familiar voice yelled. "Hunter..." he grunted, sitting up the best he could. "Meadow, Meadow, what can I do?" Meadow turned his head to Hunter who was now freaking out. "Please, let me go in peace. Just tell the tribe that I died by flame." Hunter tilited his head, trying to figure out why Meadow wanted the others to know that he was killed by a mere flame, but it was too late, the tribal cheetah could speak no more as he shuddered once and died. Hunter closed his eyes as the scene of a young dragon being hanged flashed through. That scene had scarred him for life, and he still couldn't escape it. "Oh Meadow, I swear, I will kill any fugitive dragon I meet in hopes of avenging your death." Hunter then walked away, leaving Meadow's corpse where it lay. |
