Since Light and Dark are part of the elemental circle now, wonder how the developers will properly explore them into the story.

In the Light Show! Skylanders mini-comic, Knight Light explained that the Light and Dark elements have always been around, but the destruction of the Core of Light left the Light and Dark Skylanders stranded in their own realms (which explains Spotlight's disappearance at the end of her backstory). When Cloudcracker Prison was destroyed, the explosion helped release the Light and Dark elements back to Skylands.

It makes me wonder how they'll introduce the two elements further. Like, what makes the Dark element different from The Darkness, the ultimate source behind all evil, and Dark Skylanders like Dark Spyro?

Maybe... the Dark and Light elements make up all of Skylands (like its at Skylands' core)? And the Darkness Kaos and various other villains use is artficial. That could explain Dark Spyro and the dark variant Skylanders.
