well im new here but ive been checking out the forums alot. i just started playing and collecting the figures and just beat trap team on nightmare mode (only used knightmare, wolfgang and broccoli guy and beat him first try, took like 40 mins thou) but i remember dodging some ground based aoe attack when playing as knightlite in another level. So it got me thinking, when in flying mode are these skylanders able to dodge the "waves of power" in the kaos fight? If so i think dotbit might be good in there as he can hover in place while shooting lasers nonstop. And sorry if this has been talked about already, 39 pages of topics is alot to go through.

Well, yes and no.
Flying Skylanders can be used to dodge the lasers later on in the fight, though, the "waves" come in two types. Some are tall, some are short. The short ones are sent out more often, and can be dodged. The taller ones are sent out usually as the last one, but can't be dodged by flying. I've completed the fight on medium and hard mode, and it's more of a struggle trying to maneuver flying, and its easy just dodging and jumping around them than to fly. |

Welcome to darkSpyro!
No, they can't dodge the waves Kaos sends, because when a character starts flying a magical barrier rises from them, so they he would still suffer the same amount of damages.

I agree that the general approach of trying to fly around these things is a great thought but flawed.

I may be the only one who's wrong, but last time I fought Kaos, a couple weeks ago, the waves were flat when my Skylander was walking, and suddendly rose up when I started flying. Could be an incredible coincidence.

Yeah, given it took me 25 minutes to beat Kaos on Nightmare (my first time doing so) yesterday and I see that you have 25 minutes to win the entire zone to get the 4th star, I think I will be needing to up my game or just move on with life with that one. |

When I played as Chopper while battling against Kaos, I was able to avoid getting hit by ground-based laser circles on Easy. But in Nightmare, it cannot be done.

well i got it with kaos vs kaos, infinite time with that main attack of his. and its about 29 mins to beat the entire level for the time trial so 5-7 mins for the level and 20 mins or so for the fight, i did it all in 25 mins. got it first time, was not that bad. |

I've only beaten him once (doing my second playthrough now), and I could fly over most of them, just like Chef Pepperjack (Chopper OWNS him for a bag of salted potato chips), but he had some taller ones - especially later on in the fight - that you couldn't fly over, and flying made it actually harder to evade.
Granted Kaos is a prime example of "using the game mechanic" and just switching to a villain to avoid stuff. - Unreall |

The only cases I've seen the taller waves are when I've tried to use a flying Skylander to fly over the attacks, so I think it's to discourage, well, using the most logical strategy available. Why Kaos doesn't just use the taller waves that can harm any Skylander anyways, however, is yet to be explained.

Example: In the beginning of the Chompy Mage battle the chompies have a fire wave barrage occurring while they launch...this was missing previously. Chef Pepper Jack literally peppers the entire screen save for one or two places. It's literally Kaos lol.
