I was just wondering what the pay out will be for these gateways. Is it comparable with the sanctuaries?
I am doubting buying these gateways right now (gems are not the problem though). But I do have Trap Master Houses where I put my Light & Dark Trap master in. It is either in these houses or in the gateways.

Just checking what payout will be better and what your preferences are.

And if you have Ermit, I assume that the time for the gateways get reduced by half as well.Is it? So 5 hours against 6 hours for the trap masters house.

Although I like the times quests with a shrine as reward, I don't really need any more shrines. Wishing stones come in plenty, so I was thinking buying the gateways when they go on sale.

I should get my first payout when I get home from work tonight. But I can tell you that Ermit does not reduce the ten hour time for the gateways.

My first two payouts were unimpressive - 5 or 6 gems. And if they're following the pattern of the first payouts being at the high end, as seems to be the case on other gem houses, that is pretty disappointing.

So far I would say definitely not worth buying unless you are using them to get over 3 shrines through the quest. Especially since they lock away your only dark/light skylanders and you won't be able to collect dark/light traps.

Unless there's a chance of these popping out 25 gems or more, so far they seem like a bad investment.

My second collection was the gold reward as well, 31250 from each.

And no, Ermit does not speed them up - they take the full 10 hours.

I think the gateways are a joke. I went ahead and bought them so I could try to finish the quest, but then practically regretted it. They're way more expensive than they should be, so much so that I would almost expect them to lower the prices on them. But since a bunch of us went ahead and bought them, that probably won't happen. As far as anyone can tell, they are like a giant/alt house, but they take 10 hours. So why charge almost 4 times as much for something that gives the same payout, takes a lot longer to use, and uses the only available Skylanders for that element (that would be better freed up for traps and probably make more doing adventures in that time). To think they should be like sanctums is a ridiculous notion, too, as they aren't even as good as a house, especially for gem payouts. The only thing a sanctum has going for it is the availability to have 3 Skylanders, and they're half the time (with Ermit). I keep expecting a surprise to come out of these gateways for them to be that much.

Third collection was the 31250 gold again, so far all signs are that these are pulling from the same loot table as a Sanctum. Definitely not worth the 1500 gems unless you really want that bonus shrine.

They only seem worth it if you have gems to spare. Otherwise I agree it's probably worth waiting until a possible future sale... Doing it now is basically paying around 1100 gems for a fourth light/dark shrine.

I picked em up, but have only gotten gold payouts. I had the gems to burn on to of my accounts, so… whatever...

I actually like them. If you're a higher level player, you have something to spend your gems on that is cool-looking. If you are a lower-level player, you just ignore and don't feel frustrated that you are missing out on something critical that you can't afford.

Is anyone going to be tempted to spend real money on gems to buy these? Highly unlikely.
